Welcome About Us Photos Movies Blog Reading and tummies Wednesday, November 3, 2010 I wish I could fully understand where my kids get some of their ideas. A quick peek into their brains would prove helpful at times. For as long as I can remember the girls have been playing this game they call “touching tummies”. I don’t know where it came from, but it has been around a while. The game has changed over the years. Now it is called “bumping tummies” and the goal is to bump each other hard enough that the other person falls over. Violent I know. I would stop it, but it is usually accompanied by such strong giggles that the whole house is laughing along. Yesterday Elizabeth was the ringleader. She announced that a tournament would be taking place and asked who was up for the challenge.

Reading and tummiesWednesday, November 3, 2010

I wish I could fully understand where my kids get some of their ideas.

Nate stepped up...

Then Nate and Anna had a turn. Elizabeth and Anna also bumped for a moment, but Anna got upset that Elizabeth won too fast.

And I really thought this would end well (until this group hug became a dog pile on top of Nate who wasn’t excited about that)... but it started fun!

And on to a new topic...Anna and her reading. I had mentioned with the last update that I was going to make her slow it down a bit and we have. We are just doing one lesson a day, and she is fine with that. So we made it to lesson 60. I can hardly believe how well she has done. She is so proud of herself and I can see that spilling into other areas of her life.

Anna had picked out her prize herself. A headband... and by the time we got this .40 cent headband home it was missing a little bling... but my usually overly observant daughter didn’t notice. Whew.

Then Nate’s turn.

Posing with trains. Why not. They are all he talks about.

Nate & Elizabeth

We spent time playing with trains... Elizabeth LOVES to build tracks. Even our house helper gets into them.

That afternoon the drilling was SO bad - (construction next door) and nobody was napping, so we up and went to my favorite part of town (as far as shopping is concerned) and I picked up a few things. The girls REALLY wanted a new rug for their room (their old one had seen better days), but it had to be pink. No other color would do. And the only pink ones we could find were um, UGLY. So we finally found this one that has sea shells on it (makes me think it was intended for a bathroom) and while it isn’t my favorite choice for their room, it is their room and so I let them get it. The spent the rest of the afternoon playing on it - taking pretend naps.

Good times.
