Langkah-langkah (Grellet, 1981):

1. Menggarisbawahi kata-kata atau kalimat-kalimat penting.

Aturan

• Summary cannot be too short.• If do so main idea may not be found

• Summary cannot be too long (duh )

• Stated main ideas instead of details!

• Pick the correct main idea instead of supporting ideas

Membuat ringkasan lebih baik menggunakan kata-kata sendiri.

Hal ini juga menguji seberapa banyak kosakata bahasa Inggris yang sudah dikuasai.

Chronological Order• One of the Vestal Virgin got pregnant and bore two boys, Romulus and Remus

• The king put the boys afloat in the basket in order to put things right with the goods

• Instead of drowned, the boys came to rest on the river’s bank and a shepherd found them

• After growing up Remus and Romulus kill their uncle, the king to get revenge.

• The boys then restored to the throne and founded Rome

• Then Remus and Romulus quarreled to become Rome’s first king

• Romulus, after a long reign, vanished into a thunderstorm and became god.

• Romulus and Remus could have died by drowning into the river.

• The king is a bad guy.

• The abducted Sabine women could have been unhappy.
