    THE GIST PROCEDURE

    GIST = Generating Interactions Between Schemata and

    Text

    GIST also called as main ideas of paragraphs

    One approach to summarizing a text Summarizing requires focus on the main ideas of a text

    and decide what is important without omitting key ideas

    Main idea can be found in first sentence usually but not

    always, sometimes it will appear in the middle or even in

    the last of paragraph

    Main idea same as topic sentence
