God, source of all freedom,
this day is bright with the memory
of those who declared that life and liberty
are your gift to every human being.
Help us to continue a good work begun long ago.
Make our vision clear and our will strong:
that only in human solidarity will we find liberty,
and justice only in the honor that belongs
to every life on earth.
Turn our hearts toward the family of nations:
to understand the ways of others,
to offer friendship,
and to find safety only in the common good of all.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Our parish Mass on Monday, July 4, will be
at 8:30 a.m. Come begin your celebration
of our nation’s political independence with
the Church’s great celebration of our
radical dependence on God—the
Eucharist.
The Parish Office will be closed on Monday,
July 4, in observance of the holiday.
2855 Briarcliff Road, NE Atlanta, Georgia 30329
Through worship, education, and service, we continue the work of Jesus.

THANK YOU to the hundreds of IHM
households who made pledges to the 2016
Archbishop’s Annual Appeal! We have
exceeded our parish goal for the Appeal in
pledges! If you made a pledge to the An-
nual Appeal back in January, you should
be receiving payment reminders by mail or
by email; please do your best to fulfill that pledge by year’s end.
100% OF THE FUNDS received over our par ish goal will r eturn to us here at
IHM without any assessment from the Archdiocese. That means that every dollar giv-
en to the AAA is worth about $1.30 in money contributed to the Sunday offertory!
Your gift helps the Archdiocese and our parish!
IF YOU HAVE NOT YET made your pledge to the 2016 AAA, please do so soon.
To make your pledge online, simply go to http://appeal.archatl.com. Please be sure to
choose IHM as your designated parish!
June 26 Offertory: $16,061.00
Electronic Offertory: $5,499.54
Total: $21,560.54
Peter’s Pence: $1,583.00
This weekend’s second collection will go
to the IHM Debt Reduction Fund.
Our second collection next weekend is
our monthly appeal for the parish St. Vin-
cent de Paul Society.
Gifts of Remainders of Estates: When one passes away, there is
usually an estate sale to sell assets that no one in the family wanted.
Did you know you can leave all remaining assets to The Catholic
Foundation of North Georgia for the benefit of the parish endowment
fund? The Foundation will handle the estate sale and place the pro-
ceeds of the sale into the parish endowment fund. For information
on how to include this idea in your will, please contact: Juliet Greco
at The Catholic Foundation of North Georgia: [email protected] or
404-497-9440.
With heartfelt gratitude, I would like to thank the people of IHM for their kindness
and generosity. The last two years have gone by rather quickly, but the special mo-
ments I had with you will be treasured for a lifetime. I will miss you all. May the Lord
our God continue to bless you. You are in my prayers.
Rev. Fr. Bill Hao
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY 2ND ANNUAL POPE FRANCIS BUILD Immaculate Heart of Mary and Atlanta Habitat for Humanity invite you to join
on the 2nd Annual Pope Francis Build! Our parish is proud to be one of the lead
sponsors again this year!
To make a donation for Immaculate Heart of Mary’s sponsorship click here:
https://donatenow.networkforgood.org/immaculateheartofmary. An online vol-
unteer sign-up form for participating in the build will be available soon.
Bake Sale IHM will have a bake sale the weekend of July 23 & 24 following the English
and Spanish Masses to raise money for our second annual Habitat for Humanity
Pope Francis House Build. There will be individual items for sale for $2 and
whole desserts for sale for $15. We will accept checks and cash.
We need your help! Please sign up to bake a dessert (or two!) and drop them off
in the narthex before the 4:00 p.m. Mass on Saturday (if you can't bring them
Saturday, just bring them with you to Mass). Please bring items packaged and
ready for sale. Please label if they contain nuts. Go to http://tiny.cc/ihmbakesale
to sign up to participate!
We also need people to sign up to attend the sale of the baked goods after the
Sunday Masses.
Last year we raised nearly $1000 at the bake sale! This year we're hoping to
raise even more! The gift of your baked goods and time to sell the items will be
a great help for us to reach our $2000 pledge.
LEBANESE POTLUCK SUPPER Saturday, July 23 In celebration of the feastday of St. Charbel Maklouf,
Monsignor Al invites all lovers of Lebanese food to a
potluck supper on Saturday, July 23, 5:30-7:30 p.m. in
the Lower Level of the church. You don’t need to be
Lebanese (or half-Lebanese like Monsignor!) to at-
tend! If you don’t know how to cook kibbeh, koosa
mahshi, fatayer, hummus, baba ghanoush, tabbouleh,
baklava or ma’amoul, you can just order out from a
restaurant, like Monsignor will be doing! Bring plenty
to share. (Monsignor has a plan for the leftovers!)
Fresh pita and family-friendly beverages will be provided. RSVP with number
attending and your planned dish to Jayna Hoffacker at 404-636-1418, ext. 226
FLANNERY O’CONNOR FILM SCREENING Sunday, August 7 Uncommon Grace traces the people and events that shaped Flannery O’Con-
nor’s remarkable career, as well as the important role that Catholicism played in
her writing. Featuring expert commentary and rare photographs, Uncommon
Grace will give you a new appreciation for this highly celebrated, yet often
misunderstood, storyteller.
The film will be screened at the Marietta International Film Festival at The
Strand Theatre on Sunday, August 7. Visit http://www.beataproductions.com
for more information.
CATHOLIC FOUNDATION GRANT! We are pleased to announce that we have
received a grant award of $1,000 from the
Catholic Foundation of North Georgia, Inc. to
allow us to purchase a portable sound system
for use at Palm Sunday, Good Friday and
Holy Saturday liturgies, and at other times
through the year. We thank the Catholic
Foundation for their support of our parish and
its mission!
MAKER AND MASTER Thursday, July 7
IHM musicians Michael Mullink and Michael
Vrazel present Maker and Master, a concert
benefitting Ezekiel House. They will perform
at Prince of Peace Catholic Church on Thurs-
day, July 7, at 7:30 p.m. Prince of Peace is
located at 6439 Spout Springs Road, Flowery
Branch, GA 30542.

concert for $10.

SVDP HANDYMAN If you need a handyman to help you with vari-
ous small jobs around your house, you could
obtain some help by hiring a Safe Environ-
ment approved volunteer from the St. Vincent
de Paul IHM Conference to help you with
your work.
Simply make a donation to the St. Vincent de
Paul IHM Conference in the amount of $25.00
for every hour the volunteer spends on your
job. This is a win, win, win situation: we help
you, you help the St. Vincent de Paul IHM
Conference, and the St. Vincent de Paul helps
the many people in need. So if you need
some assistance with small jobs around the
house, call 770-986-4996 and ask for Dirk.

Each Thursday, Dr. Louanne Bachner leads an informative and prayerful
discussion of the lectionary readings for the following Sunday. The study
meets in the Lower Level at two different times: 9:30 a.m. or 7:00 p.m. There is no registration required and no fee to participate. Feel free to join the group as your schedule permits.
Are you interested in becoming Catholic, or simply learning more about the Catholic faith? We look
forward to meeting you, answering your questions, and helping you
discern God’s call. Please join us for the first of our summer “inquiry”
sessions on Wednesday, July 27, 7:00-8:00 p.m., in the lower level of the
church. Contact Drew Denton in the parish office for more information.
In preparation for the 2016-2017 school year, we are also seeking additional catechists for our faith formation programs. If you would like to help others understand and live their faith more fully – whether young children, teenagers, or adults – please let us know! Contact Drew Denton or Alicia Guerrero for more information on how to get involved.
“Christians are indistinguishable from other people either by nationality, language or customs. They do not inhabit separate cities of their own, or speak a strange dialect, or follow some outlandish way of life... With regard to dress, food, and manner of life in general, they follow the customs of whatever city they happen to be living in, whether it is Greek or foreign. And yet there is something extraordinary about their lives. They live in their own countries as though they were only passing through. They play their full role as citizens, but labor under all the disabilities of aliens. Any country can be their homeland, but for them their homeland, wherever it may be, is a foreign country… They pass their days upon earth, but they are citizens of heaven.” From the Letter to Diognetus, Second Century AD
You have done countless things to prepare for your child’s birth. But how can you make sure that you are prepared for your child’s “second birthday” — his or her birth into the Church through the waters of baptism? The next class for parents presenting infants or young children for baptism will be Sunday, July 10, 3:00-4:30 in the lower level of the church. Register online at http://ihmatlanta.org/baptism or contact Yolanda Muñoz in the parish office ([email protected], 404.636.1418).
