Reddam House Preparatory, Constantia Volume 2:4 2014 (24 30 October 2014) From the Headmistress Dear Parents What a sad time we seem to have had of late with Mrs Miles' accident on Ou Kaapse Weg and the death of 2 mothers in the parent body. I have expressed my thanks for the wonderful support given to Mrs Miles and her family, to the Jenner family and the Farragher Thomas family but wanted to mention the wonderful children at Reddam House. I receive so many comments from visitors to the school on the courtesy of the children and on how happy they seem to be at school, but of late have been told of the wonderful compassion, kindness and thoughtfulness which they show to their peers who are experiencing sad times. One cannot put a price on this level of emotional maturity and I felt both proud and moved by the courage shown by many children. Grade 8 2015 - College Text Books / eBooks / IT Levy 2015 With the rollout of iPads for all students in 2015, the majority of text books will be sourced by the school as eBooks which will be downloaded onto each student’s iPad and thereafter you will be billed directly by IT Schools Innovation. Please note that there will also be a monthly IT Levy of R90.00 billed to your account next year to cover the administrative costs associated with the IT Schools eBook system. However, there are some text books that are currently not available in electronic format and consequently we will have to order traditional hard copy versions of those text books. The list of these hard copy text books is being finalized and, when ready, will follow the same ordering procedure through Caxtons as we have done in previous years. Instrumental music lessons If your child is stopping music lessons at the end of the year, please inform his / her Music teacher by 31 October to assist us with planning for 2015. If no notification of intention to stop is received by this date, it will be assumed that they are continuing next year. There is no need to register again

UNIFORM POLICY

Each campus (i.e. Pre-Primary, Preparatory, and College) has its own specific uniform. An overlap from one campus to another is not appropriate. Reddam House requests that parents respect the individuality of each campus by not allowing your children to wear uniform items that are not specific to their campus.

STANDARD SIZE RANGE OF UNIFORM ITEMS

Waist 21/54 to 38/97 Waist 24/61 to 44/112 Parents must please ensure before the time of purchase that the available range of sizes in the shop accommodates the size of their children. The lead-time for the manufacture of any special measurement is approximately 8 to 10 weeks. It is the responsibility of the parent to ensure that any order for a special measurement item is placed timeously.

MEANS OF PAYMENT

Reddam House Shop operates on a C.O.D. basis. We do not allocate items to your Reddam House school account. Goods can be paid for by Credit Card, Cash, a Cheque made payable to Reddam House Shop or an Electronic Funds Transfer. We are unable to accept a cheque that has not been made payable to Reddam House Shop, does not have the correct date or has been altered in any way. In the event, of another party (other than the individual selecting the goods) being responsible for the payment, we will keep the goods aside until the receipt of payment. If you choose to make an EFT payment, please ensure that you get the correct banking details from a member of staff at the shop. The items will be kept at the shop until a proof of payment has been received.

RETURN OF FAULTY OR UNWANTED GARMENTS

All our garments carry a thirty-day guarantee from our suppliers for any factory fault. Faulty garments will be replaced or credited at the sole discretion of the supplier concerned. Each garment has a laundry instruction label. The shop can supply you with a copy of ‘general advice’ regarding the laundering of garments as well as the care instructions of bathing costumes and swimming caps. The shop will exchange or credit any unwanted garment on condition that it:

1. is a current stock item, 2. has not been worn or altered in any way, 3. has no name printed, ironed or sewn onto the garment and 4. Is in a condition to be sold to another customer.

Any goods returned for credit or returned for exchange will be credited at the price shown on the original sales document and replacement item/s will be charged for at the current price. The shop cannot credit stock items and garments that have been damaged in transit or due to use or incorrect laundering/handling. Thank you for your co-operation and support. Bread Reminder – Westlake Emmanuel Educare School We would very much appreciate our families assisting us in the following charity drive to assist the Westlake Emmanuel Educare School on our doorstep. The principal of the school, Ms Eleanor Lawrence, would be most grateful if every week we assist with the supply of white and brown sliced bread loaves. Every Tuesday this term each Grade will have a turn to supply bread. The bread must be taken to the classrooms and will then be delivered by Mrs Elliot-Jones to this deserving school. Ms Lawrence then freezes the bread to use daily until the fresh bread arrives the following week. It would be wonderful if you feel you would like to add a container of Peanut Butter, Marmite, Jam or Anchovette. We thank you in advance for your kind assistance. The roster will be as follows:

Grade 4 Tuesday, 28 October 2014

Grade 5 Tuesday, 04 November 2014

Grade 6 Tuesday, 11 November 2014

Grade 7 Tuesday, 18 November 2014
