MALAYSIA
Malaysia is among the 12 mega-diverse Countries in the world in which rich in flora and fauna.
• Malaysian vision of becoming a developed nation and high income economy by 2020
To ensure well balanced management of natural resources and environment in achieving sustainable development, steps were taken through:

• The Policy aims to conserve Malaysia's
biological diversity and to ensure that its components are utilised in a sustainable manner for the continued progress and socio-economic development of the nation.

• National Policy on Environment
• The Policy aims at achieving continued economic, social and cultural progress in Malaysia and enhancing the quality of life of its people, through environmentally sound and sustainable development.
• A broad-based strategic approach adopted to promote environmental soundness through research and development, economic efficiency, social equity, responsibility and accountability.

• National Physical Plan 2 • The plan’s aim: • the establishment of an efficient, equitable and
sustainable national spatial framework to guide the overall development of the country towards achieving a developed and high-income nation status by 2020.
• Objectives:
• Obj2: To optimise utilisation of land and natural resources for sustainable development and biodiversity conservation.
• Obj4: To enhance spatial and environmental quality, diversity and safety for a high quality of life and liveability.
