REGISTERING FOR AND SIGNING INTO THE ONLINE WORK-BASED LEARNING DATABASE

The Massachusetts Career Ready

Database is set up so that more than one person can work collaboratively on

entering and updating information, while still keeping information

confidential.

Therefore, as you navigate through the sign-up screens and

the database screens you will see several

ways that information can be shared.

Information can be shared with ….

Supervisor at the employer worksite

Job / Internship Program Staff

InternTeachers or

other contacts

Co-workers

Go to https:// masswbl.org

Or http:// massconnecting.orgTo register for a username and password

In the “Create an Account” section of the page, choose one of the three options: Employer Account, Program Staff Account, or Intern Account. Click CONTINUE to continue.

Read the privacy and data use policy and click the button to continue.

Type your name in the first box.

Maria Brown

Type your email address in the second box. THIS WILL BE YOUR USERNAME in the database.

Maria [email protected]

Provide your zip code – this will help determine what region you are in.

If you are signing up as a program staff person, fill in the access code provided to you.

Check with your WIB regional office or with a colleague or email jleonard @ skillslibrary.com to obtain this access code.

If you are signing up as an employer or intern, you will not need the access code.

In the next section, enter the email addresses of any colleagues or co-workers with whom you want to share all the information you enter. If you are an employer, you can enter the program staff/program coordinator. If you are a program staff, you should enter colleagues/co-workers and program managers with whom you share responsibility for placements and work-based learning plans.

If someone lists your email address (which is your username) then you can see data that they enter.

If you list someone’s email address (their username) then they can see data that you enter.

(If necessary, you can list someone who isn’t using the database yet, and then help them register for a username and password.)

Later on (in the next presentation) when you see the placement detail screens, you will see that there is also a place to share a specific record with a colleague, supervisor, teacher, intern, or other person connected to the placement.

Click the button to create your account. Your password will be emailed to you.

From now on you will sign in with your username and password on the sign-in page at

https:// masswbl.org or http:// massconnecting.org

You can change your password or retrieve your password at any time.

Each time you sign in, you’ll see a “Welcome” screen that will welcome you by name and show you any announcements about what’s new in the database.

Read the announcements as needed and then click the button to continue.

Once you sign in, you will see your menu screen. From the menu screen you can start working on Work-Based Learning Plans and placement details.

Notice the “My Account” button along the top: you can change your sign-in details at any time using this button.

With an employer or intern account, you will see fewer details on the main menu. As an employer or intern, you do not need the full placement screen or the Reports/Admin menu.

The next presentation will focus on navigating through the database screens.
