The hospital’s entire heating system was ageing and too costly to run. Consequently, the planning of a new heating sys- tem was essential. The brief was to replace the old boilers with new, modern ones. The decisive factors for the planned renovation were firstly the improvement of the system’s cost-efficiency in order to reduce costs, and secondly to significantly reduce of the emis- sions in order to meet the requirements of the local legal regulations. Moriggia Pelascini Hospital is situated in the well-known delightful little tourist location of Gravedona (population of around 2800), on the Comer Lake. The hospital has 210 beds. In terms of the medical services patients enjoy excellent care in a modern hospital facility. The small hospital has over 12 clinical departments, which include general medicine, surgery, neurology, intensive care and rehabilitation. Following the extensive renovation, the hea ting system is now also right up to date.
