3. Human resources

The lecturer should ideally:

Be a good communicator with a thorough understanding of the freight logistics industry.

Have a Bachelors degree in transport. Practical experience in the freight logistics environment

will be a distinct advantage.

Be competent in or have at least three years experience in the area in which he/she will be

facilitating and assessing learning.

4. Other resources

Excursions and industry exposure:Students must be exposed to the freight logistics industry to familiarise themselves with the

various administrative control systems. Exposure to a large freight logistics operator will add

considerable value but is not essential.

The freight logistics industry has several entry positions where administrative skills areneeded and exposure to real life documentation is essential.

Guest speakers:

Visits by logistics experts employed in freight logistics companies would add value.

Practical exposure can be enhanced by initiatives such as:

Page 70: RESOURCES LIST FOR NC(V) PROGRAMMES - dhet.gov.za

NC(V) Resource List Version 01 March 2016 Page 70

o PowerPoint presentations on freight logistics activities

o Discussion of the vision and mission of large freight logistics operators

o Using real financial data of operators

o Photos and other graphical aids

o Using information obtained via the Internet on freight logistics
