Young Leaders Day Last Monday week Miss O’Brien escorted our student leadership team to the Young Leaders Day Conference in Sydney. This day is designed to inspire young leaders from schools across NSW to make change and strive for success in the future. I would like to personally congratulate this fine group of students for representing our school so well and significantly contributing to our good reputation in the community – well done! Harmony Day On Friday 20th March, Woy Woy South PS will be hosting a Harmony Day Celebration. The message of the day is ‘Everyone Belongs’ and aims to engage people to participate in their community, respect cultural and religious diversity and foster a sense of belonging for everyone. Since 1999, more than 70,000 Harmony Day events have been held in childcare centres, schools, community groups, churches, businesses and federal, state and local government agencies across Australia. WWS students are invited to wear a ‘touch’ of orange (i.e. t-shirt, headband, hat etc.) with their school uniform on the day. Students will also engage in specific activities linked to the ideals mentioned above. A Harmony Day menu will also be available at the canteen on the day. Parent Teacher Meetings Parent Teacher meetings are scheduled for Weeks 10 and 11 this Term, and Week 1 in Term 2. A note regarding the details and booking times will be distributed shortly. These sessions are not designed for students, as another opportunity will be presented later in the year with Student Guided Tours. Further Works As mentioned in last week’s newsletter, further work will continue this weekend on the grounds of our school in preparation for the impending roof works Have a safe and happy week everyone, Matt Barr Principal Positive Behaviour For Learning This week our PBL focus is showing Respect, Responsibility and Relationships by using appropriate language. This means students should speak kindly to teachers and peers. They need to be mindful about saying please and thank you. Using appropriate language in the classroom and playground is essential to building a respectful learning environment for all at Woy Woy South. PBL team

Harmony Day will be celebrated at WWSPS on Friday the 20th of March. Students are encouraged to come dressed in a piece of orange clothing on this day, "Everyone Belongs" is the message and orange is the colour. Please wear sensible

enclosed school shoes and our school hat on this day.

The canteen will provide three international dishes that students can choose to order for their lunch on the Friday

20th March ONLY.

The 3 meals will be Butter Chicken, Fried Rice and Pasta. Meal Deal orders need to be in no later than Thursday, 12th

March 2020.

Students will complete class activities with their buddy classes and during the Friday assembly in week 8 there will be a special Harmony Day presentation where students will

discuss what Harmony Day means to them and us as a school.

As a way of providing you and your children with lots of useful online resources, each week we will be sending home a ‘Wonderful Website of the Week’. This will equip you with a list of great websites that your child can use when they are using computer technology at home. Please always remember to talk to your children about responsible and safe use of the internet. Enjoy! Pi Day Pi Day is celebrated every year on the 14th of March around the world. Not only is it the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, but it’s also the 16th letter in the Greek alphabet (π). This year our school will celebrate Pi Day on Friday 13th March with a Pi scavenger hunt and a competition to see who can recite the most digits of Pi. Parents, family members and carers of competition participants are invited to attend our International Pi Day competition in the hall at 10:30am. Good luck mathematicians.
