The Senior Pastor is Servant-Leader, Teacher, Challenger, Trainer, Initiator, Counselor and overall Visionary for the Church. He shall structure the process for the casting and implementation of vision for the church, while providing leadership and supervision for implementing such vision through the Board of Directors and various ministries of the church. The Senior Pastor is the leader of the church and is responsible for leading the church to the fulfillment of its mission in accordance with the teaching of the Holy scriptures, Church covenant, and Evangelistic principles necessary for discipleship and the winning of lost souls. The Senior Pastor is the final authority on all pulpit matters. This position regularly and customarily involves the exercise of sound judgment and discretion. Responsibilities and Duties As leader of the Pastoral ministries of the Church, the Senior Pastor will: Prepare and deliver sermons. Equip the saints for ministry. o Teach Bible studies and other spiritual curriculum that will edify the Body of Christ o Train leaders to be effective in the performance of their duties o Teach Evangelistic principles for the winning of lost souls o Discipleship training that will equip the Body of Christ to be literal followers of Jesus Christ and make Disciples Lead Officers, Boards and Committees in vision implementation of short-term and long-term plans. o Serve as ex-officio member of the NLBC Board of Directors o Maintain board governance and boundary principles o Lead and direct the affairs of the church o Lead, equip, and provide guidance to ministers and/or pastors in ministerial duties and ordinations. o Lead in planning, supervising, and administering of all ministries of the Church o Serve as moderator of annual church conferences o Implement vision for congregational care Provide pastoral counseling and minister to the sick, dying, and bereaved. SEARCH CRITERIA Pastoral Experience – A minimum of 5 years as a Pastor is preferred. Pastoral clinical education would be helpful. Education – Masters of divinity (M. Div.) degree or equivalent is required. Doctor of Ministry (D. Min.) degree or equivalent is preferred. Degrees must be from a nationally accredited college, university or seminary. Abilities – Must evidence love for people and solid preaching, teaching, communication and administrative skills. Denominational Affiliation - Baptist is strongly preferred, however Holy Ghost filled, non-denominational backgrounds might also be considered.).
