NEWSWinter’s nearly gone, and I’m off to Barcelona for a bit tomorrow, just as the weather is getting super nice here, typical!

Start off with news that MK is to get another Rob Selley designed plaza as part of the re-development of the Milton Keynes Bowl venue. He’s also giving the guys to do with the Skegness plaza a helping hand.

On the subject of hands, the latest Heroin DVD, Magic Sticky Hand, is out and all the premieres have finished leaving people rather impressed. It features full parts from Colin Fiske, Stephen Roe, Jon Monie, Chris Ault and a full new Deer Man Of Dark Woods part made exclusively by the Barrier Kult for Heroin along with bits with the rest of the team. Click here to have a look at their website for footage from recent demos.

Below you will see some new t-shirts from Emerica and Etnies, including the Fos designed t-shirt which complements the new shoe he’s designed.

Vaughan Baker’s Trans Em colourway should be in skate shops up and down the land right now too. It’s pretty much an Emerica Accel but still a very nice shoe.

Blueprint have some new boards designed by the man himself too, which will most likely be in skate shops now too.

NEWSSKATEMCR are organising a series of events throughout April in association with NOTE, CAST, TWO and Projekts. Each Sunday there will be something at a different venue every time. The Pump Cage under Mancunian Way, Gas Works, Central Skatepark and CAST’s mini ramp. There will be categories including under 16, over 16, sponsored and the special group MCR Shops. The winner of this group will win the unique prize of the ashes of four boards, one from each shop! For details of each event check out www.skatemcr.com.

Harry from Unabomber is now heading up the Flip team as well as continuing the art direction of Unabomber.

Nic Powley is now the Team Manager for Vans UK and has made his first power move, putting Kev McKeon (Meanwhile Kev) and Josh young (Manhead) onto the flow team.

Cantelowes Skatepark in London is finally due to open on Good Friday 6th April. Check out the UK Skate Association website for recent photos.

Also for those who want to learn some new tricks check out a new DVD called Skateboarding Explained, got sent a copy and it seems pretty good for people just starting out or just trying to learn a couple of new tricks. Visit the DVD’s MySpace page for clips and details of stockists.

Going InsideEvery October it begins, the hibernation. For some of us this might putting the board in the cupboard and sitting in front of the TV for four months until spring arrives.

For others it’s off to warmer climbs of Spain, America or this years favourite Goa. To spend your Winter in 30 degree heat, sunning yourself on the beach after skating with a few beers.

Then for the rest it’s the skatepark, indoor ramp, abandoned warehouse or even the front of Tesco.

So let’s get this started, introduce yourself, name, where you’re from, age, bra size etc?

My name’s Felix, I’m 28, from Macclesfield and I’m an ample B cup.

When did you start up CAST and why?

I opened Cast in September 2004 because I wanted to open a shop that sold clothing, art, skateboards and trainers.

What’s in the name CAST, does it stand for anything?

Yes, the four things I wanted to sell.

Do you find any problems with being a skateshop in a city with loads of other skateshops?

Yeah its pretty crazy, 7 shops all selling skate stuff within 400 square metres is fairly intense. I reckon it could have the highest concentration of skate shops in the world!!

But all the shops are pretty different, for instance we have a full on jazzy 16 1/2ft wide mini ramp in the shop.

So you’re the shop with the mini-ramp in Manchester, what’s that like?

Pretty snazzy, I don’t get to skate it as much as I would like to nowadays, but it has been well sessioned.

I can do about 3 tricks on a mini-ramp, but I still loved this ramp. Dave kills this ramp with Half-Cab Heel to Nosestall Revert out

What’s your best trick on the mini?

Dunno, bluntslide flip fakie, I’m quite into blunt variations at the moment, they’re endless!!

Who rips it on a regular basis other than you?

Jon Bell, Danny McCourt, Jimmo and Lil Dave.

Do you get much hassle like the pissheads that came in when we had the mini session?

Yeah that’s happened a couple of times, that guy that came in all pissed and scally dropped in once and broke his wrist, windows have been smashed, the shop gets pretty beat up.

So what’s happening in the future for CAST?

The high paced world of adult literature.

Any thanks etc?

Everyone at Greggs in the Arndale Common, all my suppliers, and last but not least the paying customer.
