Manoah & the Angel of God

There was man named Manoah. He was married, but had no children.

One day, the Angel of the Lord appeared to her and said: “Indeed now, you are barren and

have borne no children, but you shall conceive and bear a son.

Story continued… Now therefore, please be careful not to drink

wine or similar drink, and not to eat anything unclean. For behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. And no razor shall come upon his head, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb; and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.” (Judges 13:3-5)

The woman ran to her husband, Manoah, to tell

him the news… She didn’t know exactly who

it was that appeared to her.

She said: “A Man of God came to me, and His countenance [appearance] was like the countenance of the Angel of God, very awesome; but I did not ask Him where He was from, and He did not tell me His name.” … And she continued to tell her husband all that the Angel had said.

Manoah was so happy, so he prayed to the Lord…

When Manoah came, he asked: “Are you the Man who spoke to this woman?”

The Angel said: “I am”.

Manoah said: “Let Your words come true! How will the boy live and what will he do?”

The Angel of the Lord said: “Make sure she does all that I have commanded her!”

Manoah said: “Please, let us keep you here with us and we will prepare a young goat for You”

Angel: “Even though I will stay with you, I will not eat your food. But if you offer a burnt offering, you must offer it to the Lord.” (Manoah did not know that He was the Angel of the Lord)

Manoah asked: “What is Your name so that when this child is born we can honour You?”

The Angel did not tell him his name, he just said: “Why do you ask my name, since it is wonderful?

Manoah took a young goat and offered it as a

sacrifice to the Lord.

A wonderful thing happened: As the flame of the sacrifice went up to

heaven from the altar, the Angel of the Lord ascended, up with the flame of the altar!

bring to God at the end of the day (check your Spiritual Note-Book)

Pray with our guardian angel. Ask him to help us learn more about God and how to make God happy with all the things we do:

Our words, our behaviours, the decisions or friends we make, …all things!
