Art, food, music and good times are available in abundance to visitors at all times of year. Spring and fall are times of especially nice weather in Richardson and special festivals, such as the Cottonwood Art Festival, held on the rst full weekends of May and October. With two great regulation courses to choose from and a number of tee boxes, Sherrill Park is sure to challenge golfers of all skill levels. Sherrill Park

consistently ranks among the top 10 municipal golf courses and continues to solidify its reputation as a high-quality golf

course.

Leon Howard originally designed both Sherrill Park courses. PGA Tour Profes-

“The very essence of leadership is that you have to have a vision.”Theodore Hesburgh, 1917

he vision of the Richardson Chamber of Com-merce, which has been serving local businesses since 1946, is to be the premiere chamber of commerce in North Texas that enhances the

business environment for its members and its community. Often described as the voice for business in Richardson, the Chamber, governed by a board of 24 dedicated volun-teers, strives to ignite success for its members and Rich-ardson. A drive up or down Central Expressway reflects the changing landscape of Richardson and the results of the Chamber’s involvement in the City’s economic devel-opment plan. Every new corporate headquarter facility that decides to open its doors in Richardson brings jobs, employees and tax revenue that subsequently funds the many offerings that makes Richardson the vibrant place to live, work and play.

To enhance this business environment, the Chamber has continuously sought to provide quality programming and events that deliver maximum value to its 800 plus mem-bers by focusing on four specific areas: Economic Devel-opment, Business Advocacy, Leadership Development, and Programs and Networking.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT:The Richardson Economic Development Partnership (REDP) is a joint effort of the City of Richardson and the Richardson Chamber of Commerce designed to build a vibrant and thriving local economy by attracting new investment and jobs through marketing, recruitment and maintaining relationships with existing employers.

The REDP offers numerous services to companies considering expansion or relocation to the Richardson area including broker and real estate referrals, site selection assistance, incentives, relocation assistance and more.

BUSINESS ADVOCACY:Advocacy on behalf of its members is a key component of the Chamber’s strategic plan. Whether leading a delega-tion in Austin, Texas for Richardson’s Legislative Day, lobbying on behalf of local industry or forming Political Action Committees to support principles to which the Chamber members are dedicated, the Richardson Cham-ber of Commerce supports and protects the interests of the local business community.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT:More than 800 Leadership Richardson graduates are out making a greater impact on our community due to their enhanced understanding of Richardson’s needs, issues and problems. This 10 month leadership development program, in its 26th year, serves as a catalyst for emerging community leaders. Sessions, held from September to May, focus on social services, arts and culture, education, healthcare, business and economic development, public safety and city government.

PROGRAMS AND NETWORKING: This diverse assemblage of programs offered by the Chamber provides something for every member company, whether large or small. The Chamber staff works hand-in-hand with volun-teers to coordinate more than 70 events every year for members. Programs include: EarlyNet Richardson Young Professionals

PM Connections Signature Luncheon Series Women in Leadership Small Business Roundtable

In addition to these high-quality programs, the Chamber proudly sponsors an Annual Banquet, a Membership Campaign, the Business and Industry Awards Luncheon, a Golf Tournament, a New Teachers Luncheon, the Rich-ardson Business Trade Show and a host of ribbon cuttings throughout the year. There are a number of committees on which members can volunteer to serve, making the Richardson Chamber of Commerce one of the most active chambers in the Metroplex.
