Stewardship - A Way of Life December 15, 2019 - 3rd Sunday of Advent
“You too must be patient. Make your hearts firm, because the coming of the Lord is at
hand.” (James 5:8)
Patience is a virtue not present in all of us. We want things to go according to OUR plan and OUR schedule. Any change brings anxiety and fear. We have no control
over God’s plan. Through daily prayer we better align ourselves with God’s will and His plan, which is far better than anything we can come up with on our own. Put God
first and all will fall into place.

Girls on the Run
Sixteen girls in grades 3-5 completed another
successful season of Girls on the Run this fall. For 10 weeks, the girls met twice a week to build confidence and other important life skills through interactive lessons and physical activity. The season culminated with a 5k run in Batesville with over 250 other GOTR girls in the area and their running buddies. We are so proud of the hard work these girls put into the season and look forward to running again in the spring! Did you know…? The sixth grade class hosted a special Santa’s Dollar Christmas Tree store this past week. This gives the students in grades K-8 a chance to do some Christmas shopping on their own while also helping a good cause. The items in the store are donated or paid for by area businesses that sixth graders reach out to for help. That means that all of the money from the shoppers can go to the charity that the sixth graders choose.

December 14/15 2019
SAVE THE DATE!!! ST MARY CATHOLIC
CHURCH FEBRUARY 23-25,
2020 Friar Vincent Peterson is a Conventual Franciscan Friar and member of the Province of Our Lady of
Consolation. He has been solemnly professed for over 35 years and a friar priest for over 34 years. He comes to the OLC province from beautiful summers and cold winters of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He came to know about the friars when he would visit the retreat house
in Bloomington, Minnesota. Friar Vince as he is known to many, has worked in parish ministry,
formation ministry and currently is working in retreat ministry at the Mary Anderson Center at Mount St.
Francis, Indiana. His ministries have taken him from the east coast of Washington DC to even down south
serving as a parish priest in Las Cruces, NM. His hobbies include gardening, preaching and is an avid promoter for social justice. One unique thing about
Vince is his love for painting. He says his theme of art is “God is Beautiful” and this inspires him to sit with nature and paint. Several of his paintings hang on the
walls of friaries where he has lived in. He always thinks of his brothers when moving to a different
ministry by leaving something beautiful behind for friars to enjoy. He was asked, what do you like about St. Francis of Assisi that would have attracted you to this way of life and his answer was “I want to be in
communion with the poor”. We can say that Vince’s paintings are unique and can move us to something deeper especially when encountering nature. This is
something very common we find in the writings of St. Francis, how the poor humble servant of the Lord, Praise be You my Lord through our Sister, Mother Earth who sustains us and governs us, producing
varied fruits with coloured flowers and herbs. ~St. Francis of Assisi
