From: bill kurth [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, December 6, 2016 12:56 PMTo: Cleo CrismondSubject: Test Results Cleo, Attached are the water quality test results for the three lakes at River Ridge. A few of the readingsare not what I expected, however, however, overall it shows why some of the lakes are problemsand some are not. E1E was the control sample it is a lake that does not have excessive plant or algae growth and isrelatively easy to maintain. This lake actually has elevated nitrogen levels, however the phosphoruslevels are low enough that it limits growth. I am glad to see there is not much growth in this lake asthe hardness is excessively high so that we know that algaecides would not work particularly well inthis lake, and chelated algaecides may be necessary if algae does need to be sprayed. H1B does not appear to be problematic as it has been in the past. This lake is higher salt levels, andhas extremely high nitrogen levels, but once again, the phosphorus is very low, and possibly limitsalgae growth. Not only was the total nitrogen high, but Nitrites and Nitrates were high also. Anyincrease in available Phosphorus might allow the Nitrogen to really fuel algae growth, and this maybe why the algae growth has been very problematic in the past. pH is shockingly low, however, thissample was taken early in the morning, when pH is the lowest, and slender spikerush in the lakemay have elevated CO2 levels significantly prompting the formation of carbonic acid which would

The alkalinity is also quite low, meaning the lake is not highly buffered, This wouldallow for major pH shifts. E4A has scary numbers. No surprise at all the algae growth is off the chart. The total Nitrogen, although lower than the other two lakes, is still high. The Nitrite and Nitrates are extremely high, infact toxic. At anything over 20 mg/l, no fish should be alive. The phosphorus levels are 10 timeseither of the other two lakes, with the free reactive being some of the highest levels I have everseen. So, with Nitrogen very abundant, and Phosphorus super abundant, algae will just keep comingback. 8 species of algae were noted. The good news is the two biggest players are greenfilamentous and therefore not impossible to kill. The problem is, the nutrients are so high, it justkeeps coming back. This all leads back to the idea of doing things to mitigate nutrient to repair the health of the lakes. Although H1B is not terribly problematic at the moment, it would be aq good idea to utilize bacteriato work on lowering the nitrogen levels. I do not believe anything else is warranted at this time. E4A, we should consider all options. The bacteria grower is one step, however, some steps tospecifically lower the phosphorus levels should also be examined. The sediment/muck sampling report will follow shortly. Bill Kurth, Vice President of OperationsLake Masters Aquatic Weed Control Inc. [email protected] 4899 Cell239-466-0403 Office
