Research Cell works under the auspices of IQAC. It monitors research activities among the teaching staff of the institution. It also focuses on the in-house publications of the institution. The institution has three annual research publications with ISSN.

Compilation of Research Articles – Research Cell of the college keeps the record of all the research papers published by the teaching faculty of the institution published in various State/ National/ International level journals and reputed dailies. 3.26 Major Activities during the year in the sphere of extension activities and Institutional Social Responsibility

Special Issue of Samidha, College Magazine on Women Achievers Nobel Prize for Peace was published.

Health Check up Camp was organized by Mata Palak Sangha, Parent-Teacher Association and NSS in collaboration with Inner Wheel Club, Nagpur on Sept 2, 2014.

Matrusadan is the cell which aims to nurture values among the students of primary classes belonging to economically and educationally marginalized section of the society. Uniforms, shoes, pencil boxes and other educational gadgets are distributed. On August 15, 2014, pencil boxes and uniforms were distributed among the needy students. 42 sessions were conducted in which 05 college volunteers assisted in-charge teachers grooming 20 students from 3 rd

standard. During those sessions various shlokas, songs were taught to them. Moral stories also were told to the participants by the volunteers of Matrusadan.

In collaboration with Adult, Continuing Education and Extension, RTM Nagpur University, Nagpur the institution organized two Certificate Courses as follows:

Certificate Course in Beauty Culture – Two Months Certificate Course in Beauty Culture was organized by the institution from Sept.27 to Nov 11, 2014. 14students were benefitted by the activity. The students were guided by the expert faculty.

Certificate Course in Cookery – The course was conducted from Nov. 15, 2014 to Jan 15, 2015. 15 students and women in the community participated in the same. Current fashion trends were introduced to the students during the course.

5. Student Support and Progression5.1 Contribution of IQAC in enhancing awareness about Student Support Services

5.2 Efforts made by the institution for tracking the progression

IQAC enhances awareness about Student Support Services through various activities undertaken by the committees:

Bandhan, Alumni Association - Bandhan sponsored Best Student Award to the most deserving student of 2014-15 on Jan 26, 2014. The association organized Exhibition for Women Entrepreneurs on Dec. 27, 2014. Handmade articles were displayed by alumnae through ? stalls. ? stalls were arranged by the ? current students.

Chatrasangha – The students’ Council, छात्रसंघ organized Teachers’ Day Programme on Sept. 5, 2014.

Value Education Unit – The Value Education Unit organized Gandhi Vichar Sanskar Pariksha on Oct 17, 2014. Students enacted Street Play on Yuva Diwas, in memory of Swami Vivekananda on Jan 11, 2014.

Cultural Unit - College Cultural Committee organized Anubhuti, Inter-collegiate Competitions on Dec. 23, 2014. 27 students participated in various inter-collegiate competitions and a few achieved prizes too. Intra-collegiate competitions like Dahihandi, Book-mark Making, Poster Competition and Rakhi Making were organized by various Departments.

Green Cell – Green Cell of the college celebrated Environment Week in collaboration with Forest Dept. of India.

Personality Development Camp - प्रवाह मंथन Personality Development Camp was organized in June 2014.

Various Guest Lectures and Workshops were organized by various Departments. Cultural & Educational Visits were organized by Dept. of Fashion Designing on Feb.

2, 2015 and Dept. of Sociology. Book-bank Scheme was continued for the benefit of the students.

In collaboration with Spectrum Academy, Nagpur, Career Guidance Cell of the college organized Competitive Exam Guidance Programme from Dec. 15, 2014 to Feb. 15, 2015.

The institution provides ‘learn and earn’ opportunities to the students through Swayamsiddha, Career Guidance Cell. This year 20 students were enrolled in Swayamsiddha. They were trained through workshop like Paper Bags Making, Lamp Making and Rakhi Making.

Vision: To light the lamp of knowledge in the society especially for the marginalized strata and women.

Mission: To impart education to the girls and women specially from marginalized communities. It also aims at nurturing and nourishing the Indian values among girls who are the pillars of future India.

The curriculum designed by RTM Nagpur University, Nagpur is followed.

Teaching-Learning has become effective with various teaching aids applied by the faculty.

Teaching process has made interesting with the use of LCD Presentations and Internet.

Field visits are organized by the Departments.

Teaching through Poster Presentations was done by Dept. of Home-Economics and F.D.

The Institution follows Annual Pattern proposed by RTM Nagpur University, Nagpur.

Internal Examinations are conducted in the college regularly.

The teaching faculty follows the work of evaluation as per the rules of RTM Nagpur University, Nagpur.

Mechanism for Performance Assessment of Faculty PBAS is followed.

Support and inspiration is provided to the teaching staff to participate in co-curricular activities, conferences, workshops, seminars etc.

This year the 2 teaching faculty members participated in National and District level essay competitions and achieved prizes.

Students’ leadership qualities are developed through various activities carried out by NSS, Mahila Adhyayan Kendra, Population Education Dept. and Cultural Unit.

Formalities of the faculty and staff recruitment are completed by the institution as per the norms laid down by UGC, State Govt. and University. The college accepts the decisions taken by the expert committee duly constituted by the University.

The institution has signed MoUs with 5 educational and 4 social institutions.

Inter-collegiate Dahi Handi Competition is judged by the Alumni of the institution.

Women Entrepreneurs Exhibition 2014-15 was organized by Bandhan, Alumni Association with the support of the college staff.

Best Student Award and Best NSS Volunteer Award is sponsored by Alumni of the college.

Regular meetings are organized by Mata-Palak Sangha, Mother-Parent Association of the college.

22 parents are benefitted through the Health Check-up Camp organized by Home-Economics Department in collaboration with Inner Wheel Club, Nagpur & NSS Unit of the college on Sept. 2, 2014.

The support staff is allowed to attend the training programmes, Conferences etc. In this session 4 International, 23 National, and 2 State level Conferences/ Workshops/ Seminars were attended by the teaching staff.

In the campus use of Polythene is prohibited to maintain eco-friendly status of the surrounding.

Workshop on Making of Paper Bags was organized by the Dept. of Home-Economics on October 4, 2014.

Gandhi Vichar Sanskar Pariksha was organized in collaboration with Gandhi Research Centre Jalgaon which helped to foster values among the students of the institution. 45 students of B.A. I, II & III participated in the same.

Samidha, the college magazine and Srijan, publication by the students highlighted the Nobel Prize women achievers in the world which enriched the knowledge of the students.

The teachers who achieved awards and recognitions are motivated by felicitations by the institution.

Eight Days Workshop on Research Methodology was organized by the institution in collaboration with Cenacle.

National Meet on Creative Writing: Past and Present was organized in collaboration with FCWE.

In collaboration with Vidarbha Hockey Association, Vidarbha Level Hockey Tournaments were organized.

Health Check up Camp was organized for the parents and students. College students and 9 parents were benefitted.

Women Entrepreneurs Exhibition was organized with the support of Bandhan, Alumni Association. 24 women entrepreneurs participated in this mega event.

IQAC Annual Report for the session 2014-15

Research Cell, Bandhan, Alumni Association, Mata-Palak Sangha Parent Teacher Association implemented plan of action in auspices of IQAC. The following activities were supervised by IQAC during the academic session 2014-15.

Research Cell

Research Cell of the Institution monitors research activities among the teaching staff of the institution. It also encourages in-house publications of the institution. The institution has three annual research publications with ISSN.

Cenacle (ISSN 2231-0592) – Cenacle, a Peer Reviewed Annual Research Journal in English is a joint venture of English Departments of three local colleges Rajkumar Kewalramani Kanya Mahavidyalaya, PWS College and Santaji Mahavidyalaya, Nagpur. Cenacle 2014-15 was the special edition on theme of Partition. Research articles published in the issue focused on the literature highlighting how the holocaust of Partition affected the generation.

Imprints (ISSN 2231-4199) – Imprints is an interdisciplinary, Peer Reviewed Annual Research Journal in Arts and Social Sciences. 15 research papers were published in Imprints 2014-15 focusing on themes from literature, social sciences, library and technology.

Swayamsiddha (ISSN 2278-7992) – Swayamsiddha is a Peer Reviewed Annual Research Journal in Home-Economics. It is a collaborative publication by Home-Economics Department of four colleges Rajkumar Kewalramani Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Dayanand Arya Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Mahila Mahavidyalaya and Dharampeth Arts & Comme. College, Nagpur. In 2014, 8 research papers were published in Swayamsiddha. The theme of Swayamsiddha 2014 was ‘Work Culture and Women Health’.

Word and Image, Articulations on Literature and Films, a book was published by Dr. Urmila Dabir with ISBN 978-81-7192-083-9.

Bandhan, Alumni Association

Bandhan organized One Day Women Entrepreneurs Exhibition promoting the budding women entrepreneurs in Nagpur, specially belonging to the vicinity of Sindhi

minority community along with parents and students of the institution on Dec. 27, 2014. The exhibition provided a platform to the upcoming entrepreneurs from Nagpur to launch and sale their articles and home-made products. 24 women entrepreneurs participated through 18 various stall.

Bandhan sponsors the Best Student Award and Best NSS Volunteer Award. Ms. Saroj Thakre, the student of B.A. Part III was awarded the ‘The Best Student 2013-14’ and Ms. Shalaka Sonare was awarded ‘The Best NSS Volunteer 2013-14’on the republic day.

Mata-Palak Sangha, Parent Teacher Association

Mata Palak Sangha organized Health Check up Camp in collaboration with NSS for the parents of the students on Sept. 2, 2014. 16 parents and the college students were benefited through the same.

The first meeting of Parent-teacher Association session was conducted on August 23, 2014 and the second meeting held on January 24, 2015. In both the meetings, the parents were informed about the progress of their daughter.

Career Counseling Cell

Competitive Exam Guidance Programme was organized in collaboration with Spectrum Academy, Nagpur from Dec. 15, 2014 to Feb. 15, 2015. The students of B.A. I participated in the same.

Creative Contest was organized in collaboration with WCL, Nagpur to make the students aware of the Competitive Examinations.

Best Practices of the Institution

2014-15

Swayamsiddha – Swayamsiddha provides career opportunities exclusively to the college students. This cell trains the students through various workshops. These programmes are organized under the supervision and guidance of the experts in the field to develop the natural skills amongst the member students. In the session 2014-15, 20 students were enrolled. They were trained to make paper bags, Rakhi and Lamps. Various articles made by them presented for sale through exhibitions in and outside the campus.

Two days Self Employment Training was provided by Swayamsiddha at Anand Niketan Mahavidyalaya, Warora, Dist. Chandrapur on Sept. 30 and Oct. 01, 2014. 50 students were guided during the programme. The cell also provided an opportunity and all the facilities available like stitching machines, drafting table to two stitching expert students, This attempt also provided an opportunity to the students for earn and learn facility.

Matrusadan – Matrusadan is another special programme run by the institution to groom the primary school children from marginalized community. Illiteracy of the parents of these students is the main hindrance to educate them in proper way at home. Matrusadan aims to cultivate the personality of these students by providing financial help and shaping their personality by telling moral stories and Shlokas.

In this academic session 19 economically backward students were selected. The students were distributed uniforms and writing material by Matrusadan. In all 42 sessions conducted by the faculty of Home-Economics, Fashion Designing in collaboration with NSS engaged the students through stories and games.

Vidyaneedhi –Vidyaneedhi is a special finance scheme is run by the teaching staff of the college to support financially weak students. This year 23 students were benefitted through this scheme.

Gandhi Vichar Sanskar Pariksha – To foster values among the students, Gandhi Vichar Sanskar Pariksha was conducted in collaboration with Gandhi Research Centre, Jalgaon on Oct. 17, 2004. 45 students from B.A. I, II & III appeared for the examination.
