Page 2 dune seorDear SRS Members:June is always a very full and exciting month for SRS and this June was not an exception. One very exciting piece of news is that with the new members who joined in June, we now have 200 members. SRS greatly appreciates the support you show with your continued membership. I am happy to welcome the following new members: Barbara Clark, Robert A. Cornog, Michael J. De Vito, Yolanda Suarez Merchant, Connie Moneypenny, Mary Rode, Freda Smith and Lorraine D. Vidal – I hope you will all become active members!Rose Day was blessed with beautiful weather which helped bring out a large and enthusiastic group for both the Rose Show and Art Competition. Thanks to all who participated and congratulations to Nancy Marr, Christl Meszkat, Adeline Christie, Lyn Hamer, Annabelle Coleman, Helga Dawn-Frohling, Harvey Feinstein, Huguette Hersch and Mike De Vito. Congratulations also goes to the Art Competition winners Harvey Feinstein, Ann Grimm, Martha Campanella, Sally Stryker, Robert Cornog and Nancy Rochford. Whether you took home a trophy, ribbon, award or just experienced the joy of entering, congratulations goes all! Sincere thanks to Gloria Kaye and Carol Kroupa for the terrific job of organizing these events in such a professional way.The Members Garden Tour again displayed the wonderful variety of our members gardens. Each garden was uniquely beautiful and gave us great ideas for things that can be done in our own gardens. Sincere thanks to those members who displayed their gardens: Marie and William Donnelly, Helga Dawn-Frohling and Ed Frohling, Miriam and Hal Goldberg and Dorothy and Richard Nigro – your generosity is greatly appreciated. The SRS Rose Garden at The Rogers Memorial Library has become a destination point for many residents and visitors to Southampton and this year it has been particularly spectacular. Additionally,

SRS has completed its second beautification project in the Village with the installation of the beautiful trellises and climbing roses along the Hampton Home Care wall located on Hampton Road. If you have the opportunity, I urge you to see this installation and also the installation along the wall of Shippy’s Restaurant on Windmill Lane. We will continue to work with the Village Beautification Committee to assist in the beautification of our Community.I hope that you are all planning on attending our bi-annual Cocktail Party Benefit, La Vie en Rose, to be held on Saturday, July 19th from 6:30 – 8:30 pm at the beautiful home of Todd Goodwin in the estate section of the Village. We do this fundraiser every other year to support our educational and beautification projects so your attendance is greatly appreciated. Don’t forget to enter the Dune Rose Photography Competition – see details below. Look for information in the next issue of Dune Rose on this year’s Annual Meeting Lecture/Luncheon held at the Meadow Club. Our guest speaker will be Mme Odile Masquelier, lecturer, author and proprietor of “La Bonne Maison” in France.Lastly, please remember to visit our website southampton-rose-society.org to view upcoming and past events and to get great educational information on the maintenance and care of roses. I hope to see you at the Cocktail Party Benefit on July 19th.

Cheers,

Dennis P. Sheahan, President
