Cornforth 11 th July 2014 Dear Parent/ Carer, Rome Pilgrimage 2015 The Religious Education department has organised a pilgrimage to Rome for Year 11 and Year 13 students between 16 th and 20 th February 2015. This is an exciting opportunity for students to have an enrichment experience that will enable them to deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith in preparation for their GCSE or A-Level. It will also be a fantastic opportunity to encounter the rich cultural and social aspects of life in Rome. The visit is organised through NST, the UK’s leading educational travel company, who will provide a tour guide for some aspects of the visit. Included in the trip are visits to St Peter’s Basilica, the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel, the Colloseum and we hope to attend the Papal audience with Pope Francis. We also visit a number of basilicas and take the opportunity to enjoy the local cafes. The cost of the visit is £660 per student, which covers the cost of flights, bed and breakfast in a 3-star hotel and restaurant meals each evening as well as travel insurance. Please note that students are expected to pay a tourist tax on arrival at the hotel, which is €12 at present, and the cost of their own lunches. The payments towards the visit will be spread out over the dates overleaf (additional payment dates may be made over and above these if preferred). In order to keep the expenses to a minimum, students may wish to work collectively to fundraise in their parish communities towards the visit.
