Director’s Word
Wow!! The the buoyancy of the thoroughbred industry in Australia was further highlighted this week on the Gold Coast with their annual weanling and broodmare sale average up more than 30% across the board! Like I said in my newsletter a few weeks ago, many believe the thoroughbred economy here is at the beginning of a 10 year upward cycle.
Bloodstock investors from the USA are particularly interested in what we have to offer and their investment in breeding here outlines a long term plan for their involvement.
We will be looking back over the next few years at the yearlings we purchased in 2014 and thinking - WOW, what exceptional value!! Yearlings, all top rating physicals, by Snitzel, More Than Ready, Exceed and Excel, and Lonhro for the average price of the sale or less…. You have got to be kidding!
You are on the front foot already if you are getting involved with Round Table Racing in 2014.
The conclusion to selling down the Snitzel x Redeeming Lass filly last week highlighted another great generator of sales – word of mouth. In my newsletter last week I highlighted a number of ways that we have been selling shares but I forgot the biggest!
Word of mouth and people involving friends and family in a horse they have picked out is a great way
to complete a syndicate and it adds to all the fun when you can share it with someone you know. The Snitzel x Redeeming Lass filly will be raced by a terrific bunch of owners and nearly every person introduced, or was introduced by, a friend. There was such a roll on that we unfortunately had to turn people away in the end.
I urge all our readers to do this quickly for me now:
Write down the first person that pops into your head when I ask you the question: Which of your friends would just love the thrill of racing and owning their very own racehorse?
You know racing is very affordable when you break it down into 20 shares (5% per month upkeep = no more than $200).
Racing is a life-changer so if you have someone you think might be interested please let me know. The more people we can touch with racing the better! You will be the one they thank later. Best regards,

Mr Boomsday - Domesday x Cashcade
Purchased to win Classic races in his 3YO year, Mr Boomsday made his trial debut on Monday of last week at Gosford and ran
a really nice fourth, closing strongly in the last furlong. The gelding is set to re-trial next Friday (6 June) at Randwick. His
effort here will determine whether he goes straight for a spell or has one educational race before a break. Look-out for him in
season 2014/15.
Sales FlashbackThis segment takes a look back on what my notes said on a feature horse as a yearling at the sales. We won't always get it right but by looking back we may learn from our past and make
even fewer mistakes going forward. The grades: A = Top Class (top 10%), B = Above Average (top 25%), C = Average, D = Below Average (bottom 25%).

Taking CareEvery time your horse wins remember this. His/her strapper is likely to have spent nearly everyday with your horse for the past three months. Feeding, watering,
grooming, walking, and caring for your thoroughbred to ensure he/she reaches the races at their peak. California Chrome's strapper Raul is the perfect example of
the time and effort that is put in behind the scenes to make sure we are winning:
GameChanger
Redoute’s Choice
Redoute's Choice currently leads the Australian stallions premiership and has won the championship title two times previously in 2006 and 2010.
The Group 1 winning son of Danehill has sired 115 stakes-winners
worldwide, 24 Group 1 winners and his progeny have collected over $97m in prize-money in total. Just this week
on the Gold Coast industry participants showed their respect
when they paid over $1m on eight occasions for fillies and mares closely related to the superstar racehorse and
sire. Now a successful sire of sires through Snitzel and Not a Single
Doubt, Redoute's Choice is set to have an impact on Australian racing for a
long time yet:

Fun Fact
Amazing Al!Gai produced Almalad (Al Maher) to win first up at Randwick in grand fashion last weekend, his
dominance suggesting he is certainly stakes class. Gai of course trained Al Maher to win a Group 1 VRC Australian Guineas and no trainer can match the success she has had with the stallions progeny. Of his 20 stakes-winners, Gai trained five of them including his only two Group 1 winners - Diamond Drille
and Fat Al.
Must Watch Race
Queensland OaksThe Queensland Oaks has launched the careers of some great mares of the past including Group 1 Melbourne Cup winner Ethereal and the likes
of Joie Denise, Bravery, Slight Chance, Surround, and Denise's Joy.
