HOW TO USEDesignRUREDIL XMESH C10 strengthening system should be designed to meet the specific project design requirements. Ruredil provides engineering exploratory design at no obligation.

InstallationRUREDIL XMESH C10 must be applied in strict compliance with the installation instructions reported in this Technical Data Guide by trained applicators approved by Ruredil.

Surface Preparation•Masonry substrate must be structurally sound. Pointing mortar must be fully cured (28 days). •Masonry surface must be clean, free of any treatments, such as plasters, primers, etc. that may affect the adhesion of RUREDIL RUREDIL XMESH C10 C10 strengthening system.

•Acceptable surface preparation methods include sandblasting and low-pressure water jet cleaner with brushing.•In presence of macroscopic defects deeper than 1/4 in (6.3 mm), the substrate must be regularized using RUREWALL T Structural from Ruredil or equivalent product based on hydraulic binder preferably with pozzolan characteristics. Cure not less than 24 hours before applying RUREDIL RUREDIL XMESH C10 C10 strengthening system. Do not trowel the surface of the repair material to a smooth finish.•Always round corners to at least a ½ in. radius. Internal corners should be smoothed by troweling. •Ruredil staff will provide proper specifications and details based on the project requirements.

Mixing•Precondition RUREDIL X MORTAR 25 pozzolan-based adhesive to 70°F (21°C) before mixing. •Mix in a pail using hand-held slow-speed drill and a paddle pail. Alternatively use a mortar mixer with a rotating drum. Do not mix by hand.•Pour potable water into mixer. Use a maximum of 1.7 gal (6.3 L) of water per 55 lb (25 kg) bag of RUREDIL X MORTAR 25. Do not deviate from the recommended water content.•Add the powder to the water while continuously mixing for a minimum of 2 minutes.•Add a maximum of 1.5 pint (0.7 L) of water and mix for additional 2 minutes. Total quantity of water should not exceed 1.9 gal (7 L)•Let the mix rest for 2-3 minutes •Mix again for 2-3 minutes. •RUREDIL X MORTAR 25 adhesive should be lump-free before application.

Application•Dampen the substrate. In case of high ambient temperatures and/or low RH, mist the substrate frequently during the application so to prevent early drying out of the adhesive.•Remove standing water before application.•Cut RUREDIL XMESH C10 as necessary. Use normal scissors. •Apply RUREDIL X MORTAR 25 adhesive over the masonry substrate with a steel trowel at a thin thickness of 1/6 in (4 mm).•Lay RUREDIL XMESH C10 over the adhesive with orientation of 0°/90° with respect to the ground level or masonry set line. Lightly press RUREDIL XMESH C10 into the adhesive. Each sheet of RUREDIL XMESH C10 must be totally encapsulated in the thickness of RUREDIL X MORTAR 25 adhesive. •If the structural design requires two sheets of RUREDIL XMESH C10, add a second layer of RUREDIL X MORTAR 25 adhesive at 1/8 to 1/6 in (3 to 4 mm) thickness, a second sheet of RUREDIL XMESH C10 and embed it into the thickness of the adhesive.Repeat the sequence

Page 5: RUREDIL X Mesh C10 for Masonry

RUREDIL X MESH C10

5/6

as specified by the designer. Usually RUREDIL RUREDIL XMESH C10 C10 composite system requires from 1 to 3 sheets of RUREDIL XMESH C10.•When multiple layers are applied, alternate the 0°/90° orientation with the +45°/-45° orientation (diagonally to the previous mesh layer) unless required differently by the designer. •Complete the installation adding a final layer of RUREDIL X MORTAR 25 adhesive at 1/8 in (3 mm) thickness so as to encapsulate the final sheet of RUREDIL XMESH C10.•Each layer of RUREDIL X MORTAR 25 adhesive must be applied when the previous layer is still wet and has not hardened.•If the surface of RUREDIL X MORTAR 25 adhesive has hardened, sandblast before applying a new layer of adhesive.•When the application is interrupted, all required sheets of RUREDIL XMESH C10 must have been applied. •RUREDIL XMESH C10 must be lapped 6 inches minimum. •RUREDIL X MORTAR 25 must be applied from 40 to 95°F (4 to 35°C). Follow ACI 305 and 306 for application in hot and cold weather.

CuringIn hot and dry weather conditions and/or in presence of wind, the surface of RUREDIL X MORTAR 25 adhesive must be protected with CURING S from Ruredil or equivalent product. The curing compound must be suitable for applications on wet hydraulic mortars in order to reduce water evaporation
