Overview

• Social networking truly is the new way of the world. With print on the decline and the number of bookmarking, sharing and blogging sites increasing every day, this is one medium that is demanding attention – and it’s either get in or be left in the dust.

• When used correctly and effectively, these sites have the power to deliver news to more people than you ever dreamed possible. However, it is quality over quantity, so the following are our notes on the best way to get your message out to an interested audience.

Contd…Though the diagram might look complex, the

process is simple:Build your Web site to talk to others by

making sure your home page has “share this” features.

Post links and news (such as press releases and authored articles) on your home page.

Reach an even greater audience through Twitter, YouTube and Flickr.

Employ the use of RSS feeds to update your info.

TWITTER is a hugely popular service that is not going away any time soon.

It is the best vehicle for frequency outreach and reaching the masses.

Finding a market:

• Twitter has search capabilities, so use them – find people you know, people you think sound interesting and people you think want to hear what you’re all about. Research shows about 15 percent of the people you follow will then follow you.

Social Bookmarking

Contd….Telling you to add the “share this” bookmarking

feature had a reason – to get you some face time on social bookmarking sites. Once an article/press release/etc. is created, adding it to bookmarking sites could potentially get your information out to thousands of viewers (if not more!).

These sites are great because your material is shown to people who are interested in the things your company is interested in.

It’s free advertising, placed in front of people who actually want to see your stuff. So basically, it’s a no brainer.

Advantages New business contacts can be

obtained for networking purposes. It helps to build your brand

awareness. It facilitates the process of

approaching and meeting new people. It is possible to find and subsequently

join groups with similar interests and dislikes.

Social Media Networking is perfect for customer interaction, customer feedback, and customer support.

It includes relationship management, product development, reputation management, and community building.

Disadvantages  Cyber bullyingIt can have an influence on worker

productivity.  Employees may waste valuable time using Social Media Networking.

Can be discouraging. It takes time to build your business through social networking.

People or organizations met through Social Media Networking are called “Friends”.  Can they really be called that?

Conclusion.  It allows people to keep in touch with friends,

reconnect with old friends or acquaintances, meet new people, and even conduct business with the click of a few buttons.

However, like all things, nothing can be too good to be true.  With an increased amount of time spent on the Internet comes with consequences. Therefore, even though it has its benefits in the virtual world, the real world is greatly impeded by the increasing use of online social networking.

In my opinion, I feel that socializing and having real friends in the real world is much better than living in a virtual world.
