    INTRODUCTORY RITES

  • Penitential ActConfiteorI confess to almighty Godand to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned,in my thoughts and in my words,in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,

    And, striking their breast, they say:through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault;

    !en they continue:

    therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints,and you, my brothers and sisters,to pray for me to the Lord our God.

  • LITURGY OF THE WORD

    First Reading Isaiah 9:1-6

    A son is given us.

    8e people who walked in darknesshave seen a great light;upon those who dwelt in the land of glooma light has shone.You have brought them abundant joyand great rejoicing,as they rejoice before you as at the harvest,as people make merry when dividing spoils.For the yoke that burdened them,the pole on their shoulder,and the rod of their taskmasteryou have smashed, as on the day of Midian.For every boot that tramped in battle,every cloak rolled in blood,will be burned as 9el for flames.For a child is born to us, a son is given us;upon his shoulder dominion rests.8ey name him Wonder-Counselor, God-Hero,Father-Forever, Prince of Peace.His dominion is vastand forever peace9l,:om David’s throne, and over his kingdom,which he confirms and sustainsby judgment and justice,both now and forever.8e zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this!

  • Second Reading Titus 3:4-7

    Because of his mercy, he saved us.

    Beloved:When the kindness and generous loveof God our savior appeared,not because of any righteous deeds we had donebut because of his mercy,he saved us through the bath of rebirthand renewal by the Holy Spirit,whom he richly poured out on usthrough Jesus Christ our savior,so that we might be justified by his graceand become heirs in hope of eternal life.

    Responsorial Psalm Stephen Eros (b. 1990)

    1. Sing to the LORD a new song;sing to the LORD, all you lands.Sing to the LORD; bless his name.

    2. Announce his salvation, day a;er day.Tell his glory among the nations;among all peoples, his wondrous deeds.

    3. Let the heavens be glad and the earth rejoice;

    let the sea and what fills it resound; let the plains be joy9l and all that is in them!

    8en shall all the trees of the forest exult.

    4. 8ey shall exult before the LORD, for he comes;

    for he comes to rule the earth.He shall rule the world with justiceand the peoples with his constancy.

    Psalm 96

  • In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God.He was in the beginning with God. All things came to be through him,and without him nothing came to be.What came to be through him was life, and this life was the light of the human race;the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.8e true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.He was in the world, and the world came to be through him,but the world did not know him.He came to what was his own, but his own people did not accept him.But to those who did accept him he gave power to become children of God,to those who believe in his name, who were born not by natural generationnor by human choice nor by a man’s decision but of God.And the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us,and we saw his glory, the glory as of the Father’s only Son, 9ll of grace and truth.

  • Nicene Creed

    I believe in one God,

    the Father almighty,

    maker of heaven and earth,

    of all things visible and invisible.

    I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,

    the Only Begotten Son of God,

    born of the Father before all ages.

    God :om God, Light :om Light,

    true God :om true God,

    begotten, not made,

    consubstantial with the Father;

    through him all things were made.

    For us men and for our salvation

    he came down :om heaven,

    all genuflectand by the Holy Spirit was

    incarnate of the Virgin Mary,

    and became man.

    For our sake he was crucified

    under Pontius Pilate,

    he suffered death and was buried,

    and rose again on the third day

    in accordance with the Scriptures.

    He ascended into heaven

    and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

    He will come again in glory

    to judge the living and the dead

    and his kingdom will have no end.

    I believe in the Holy Spirit,

    the Lord, the giver of life,

    who proceeds :om the Father and the Son,

    who with the Father

    and the Son is adored and glorified,

    who has spoken through the prophets.

    I believe in one, holy,

    catholic and apostolic Church.

    I confess one Baptism

    for the forgiveness of sins

    and I look forward

    to the resurrection of the dead

    and the life of the world to come. Amen.

    A Blessed Christmas to You!On behalf of our staff and all our parishioners, we warmly welcome all visi-tors who are joining us today. I want to thank all of our faith9l parishioners who are here each week and offer their time, talent, and treasure on a regular basis to keep our parish so alive in God’s Spirit. I pray that this liturgy will truly fill each of us with a deeper awareness of God’s Peace, Joy, and Love, which are given to us through the Holy Spirit. We offer a special welcome to those in our midst today who are “coming back” to the Church and to those who are looking for a new parish community to join. Our prayer for you is that this Mass will fill you with a new Spirit that will inspire you to come back on a regular basis for Sunday Mass. If you are interested in joining or finding out more about St. Clare Parish, please pick up a welcome packet in the gathering space on your way out of church today. If you are not Catholic but are interested in learning more about the Catholic Church, please call the parish office for more information.
