Discipleship: Following The Way Of The Lord Jesus

Jesus comes to us in every Mass under the form of bread and wine -- a celebration of the love of Jesus for us: his body crucified for us; his blood poured out in love for us.

Today's scripture focuses on the blood of Christ.

Blood is life. We speak of family bonds in terms of my own flesh and blood. We speak of those close to our hearts as our blood-brother. And, the heart is much more to us than just a human blood pump. It is the seat of our affections.

Jesus’ blood, freely poured out for us, is the love of Christ given for us which washes away our sins and reconciles us with God. The blood of Christ, shed on the cross, is a perfect offering which never has to be repeated.

Our Eucharist celebrates this. Because the Eucharist is the love of Jesus for us, we always approach Jesus in the Eucharist with great respect and asking pardon for our sin. That’s why it is so necessary at the start of every Mass to ask Jesus for mercy because we are so unworthy of his love and again before receiving Jesus we express our unworthiness in the words of the gospel: Lord I am not worthy to receive you, but only say the word and I shall be healed.

When the Lord Jesus commands his disciples to eat his flesh and drink his blood, he invites us to take Him into the very center of our being.

Today’s feast of the most holy Body and Blood of Christ is a feast at the very heart and center of the Church.

May we become what we receive. Fr Jim

There will be likely seven to ten children in each section.

Please let us know AS SOON AS POSSIBLE that you are interested so we can get started on obtaining the clearances before you would start.

Please call the office at 724-423-3777 to let us know if you're interested or for more information.

It also shows your regular participation at Sunday Mass, which is part of the indication that you are active in the life of the parish. Being active in your parish is an important qualification for a person who wishes to be a Godparent or Sacramental Sponsor for another person. So, please use your envelopes. There are also “Welcome” temporary envelopes in the back of both churches if you forgot your envelope. Thank you
