2017 St. Joseph’s Altar
This year’s St. Joseph’s Altar was the biggest, best and most beautiful Altar we have ever had at St. Angela! We thank the Altar Committee for all their hard work– we
truly appreciate the many hours you worked to create this for our parish.
Special thanks to Janet Cruppi and Renee Lauland, co-chairs of the 2017 St. Joseph's Altar committee. You ladies did a tremendous job pulling together everyone and everything. Congratulations on a job well done!

Magnificat Life in the Spirit Seminar
Do you feel that God has something more for you? Are you burdened and feel
that you have lost hope? Maybe you have no big problems to speak of, but you still feel a void in your life.
Magnificat, a Catholic evangelistic outreach for women, is sponsoring
this seminar on Wednesday, April 5, from 8:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
This seminar is designed to help those who come, to establish or deep-
en a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and to yield to the action
of the Holy Spirit in their lives.
Please join us as we share what the Lord has done for us through the
Life in the Spirit Seminar.
For more information, call Alma, 837-6896, or Joal, 913-5085.
St. Angela Merici Parish 2017 Lenten Mission is here!
This year’s theme is “Bloom in the Desert”
Lent is a word that means “spring me.” This liturgical season comes at a “greening me” in our
regular calendar, where growth is accentuated and clearly seen and experienced in nature with an
approaching springme. We too need to grow and come alive again. Our Lenten Parish Mission is
an experience of the Holy Spirit in our midst challenging us again to grow and become the people
that God called us to be in bapsm.!!
Our Mission will be lead by Very Rev. David G. Caron, OP, D. Min Vicar of Evangelization, Archdiocese of New Orleans
We encourage you to be part of this life-giving experience on

EIGHTH MONTH AFTER CONCEPTION
You're in the homestretch with your spiritually adopted baby. All of the organs that were developed by the 8th week are now basically completely formed. The baby is just gaining weight now and making the mother un-comfortable with his or her size. An interesting detail about this time of development is that the eyes are usually blue, regardless of the perma-nent color. The final formation of eye pigment or color usually happens a few weeks after birth. In a short time the baby will be born. The mother
has planned to bring him or her home, or place the baby for adop-tion. Either way, she knows she can receive the assistance she needs
from the Catholic Church and from crisis pregnancy centers. The prayers you have said for this baby and his or her mother have certainly been
appreciated and helpful. It hasn't been easy, but your prayers have given the baby's mother the grace to seek the help she has needed throughout
the pregnancy.
Pro-Life Meditations The 2nd Sorrowful Mystery: The Scourging
As Christ's flesh was torn by the instruments of those who scourged Him, so the bodies of in the womb are torn by the instruments of the abortion-ists. Let us pray that the abortionists may repent of these acts of child-
killing.

Addiction is a spiritual illness that disconnects a
person from self, loved ones, and God. The Sub-
stance Addiction Ministry (SAM) mission is to help
these individuals reconnect through education, pre-
vention, referral, and family support.
SAM provides education awareness of the pain in
people's lives; and refers those in need to places
where help can be found. Support, acceptance, un-
derstanding, and healing are extended to those
touched by addiction.
In any addiction the entire family is "Affected" not
just the "Afflicted" member. For every person
"afflicted," at least four others are
"affected." Nothing can destroy a family or rela-
tionship quicker than addiction. If there is an ad-
dict or alcoholic in the family, the whole family
needs to be treated.
SAM group meetings are open to both afflicted as
well as affected members of the community. Alt-
hough the Substance Addiction Ministry is conduct-
ed by the local Catholic parish church, it is open to
all members of the community who are seeking
help with addiction.
Our SAM group at St Angela will meet on the 2nd
and 4th Monday of the month in the Religious Edu-
cation Library (901 Beverly Garden Drive) at
7:00pm. Our meetings will focus on education, re-
ferral, and spiritual help. Speakers will be invited
who are experts in various aspects of addic-
tion. You do not need to RSVP, simply show up.

The 3rd Sorrowful Mystery: The Crowing with Thorns
Jesus suffered the pain of thorns in His head, and did so silently. We pray for the mothers and fa-
thers of aborted children. So many of them suffer deep grief and regret over a choice they can never reverse. So many suffer in silence, because oth-
ers tell them it's no big deal.

April 16, 2017 Easter Sunday
SAINT ANGELA MERICI ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH
TÜv{w|Évxáx Éy axã bÜÄxtÇá
Dear Parishioners,
Happy Easter! Christ is Risen! (He is risen indeed!) Growing up, I would anticipate Easter morning because I could eat
the very thing that I gave up for Lent. Between cinnamon toast (my Lenten sacrifice) and Gold Brick Eggs (my favorite
Easter candy) – I felt pretty good on Easter morning. But over the years, I have grown to love Lent and to appreciate the
sacrifices and growth on a much deeper level.
This Lent, I grew in prayer. I was blessed back in January to begin a weekly prayer series called “Lord Teach Me to Pray”.
This is an Ignatian Prayer Series run by Fr. Marty Gleason and Carol Weiler. Back in January, I began Part 1 of the series in
a group designed specifically for priests. We met on Monday mornings at 9am and would share from a prayer journal that
week. Prayer was key to the process – we were called to pray with a particular scripture daily and journal on that scripture.
Each week, we would share our prayer experience and received a brief meditation or teaching. Personally, it helped me to
have one of the best Lenten experiences of my life. I recommend “Lord Teach Me to Pray” to anyone who might be inter-
ested. See lordteachmetopray.com for more information.
I would also like to update you on my little sister, Elise. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer in July of 2014.
Raising 5 kids, she went through chemotherapy, multiple surgeries and radiation. In 2015, she was declared cancer free, and
it seemed like she was in the clear. But in 2016, they found multiple tumors in her lungs, liver and lymph nodes. Her on-
cologist moved into an aggressive regimen of chemotherapy, and Elise took it like a champ. She leaned on God, good medi-
cal assistance, and strong family, friend and Church support.
Well - last month, they ordered a PET scan to check her progress, and the oncologist called her scans “stunning”. There
were no signs of tumors in her body. He said that less than 10% of patients on her regimen have these results in this amount
of time.
The doctor has said that her cancer cells will always be with her, and that she will have to stay on a low dose chemo regimen
for her life, in order to keep those cells at bay. But even with that, she is grateful. Grateful for all of the prayers that so
many of you have lifted up for her. I can’t tell you how much I have appreciated your prayers and also your inquiry as to
how she is doing.
What I have learned from my sister’s struggle, is that real growth can be found in the midst of great suffering. I have no
idea what it’s like to have cancer. Many of you have had it and survived it. I have no idea what it’s like to be a spouse of a
person who has cancer - or the parent - or child - of a person who has cancer. I have no idea what it’s like to lose someone
so close to cancer – and to let them go to Jesus.
But I do know that I am the older brother of a sister whom I dearly love. It has been very hard watching her and her family
carry a tremendous cross. We have all grown through the process. We grew as a family as we grew closer to God and to
those that supported us. We had to die to self and rise to the occasion – in Christ. This is Good Friday. This is Easter.
As always – know that Fr. Patrick and I pray for you daily – to rise in Christ!
Happy Easter,
Fr. Beau

"Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified.
He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said. Come and
see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples,
'He has been raised from the dead, and he is going before you to
Galilee; there you will see him.' Behold, I have told you." - Mt

The 3rd Sorrowful Mystery: The Carrying of the Cross
Jesus was not condemned by the power of wicked people. Silence always helps the oppressors, nev-er the victim. Let us pray that we may never be silent about abortion, but rather will clearly speak
up to save babies from death.
