Dear Friends in Christ, Today marks the Second week of Tempus per annum or Time through the Year incorrectly called ordinary me in English. There is nothing ordinary about the Incarnaon of the Word in me. There is nothing nebulous about the me that God provides for us. As we begin this short season formally called Time aſter the Epiphany, we return to green-colored vestments and we will hear about the mir- acles of Christ. In the modern Roman calendar, this will last unl the end of Feb- ruary where we will begin Lent. Today, we hear John’s version of Jesus calling the disciples. They are eager to stay with Him; in fact, He captures their aenon wholly and completely. What would it be like for us if permied Christ to capture us wholly and completely? To not want to leave His side? To not look at relaonship with Him as “ordinary?” Next weekend, Fr. Alex Kreidler will offer Masses at St. Ann. Daily Masses are canceled from Tuesday, January 19 th -Wednesday morning, January 27 th . I will offer normal daily Mass next week starng with Wednesday evening, Jan- uary 27 th at 6:00pm. Parish Prayer for Vocations – Traveling St. Joseph Stat-

ue

As part of our parish celebration of the current Year of St. Jo-

seph, the Durando family is organizing an effort to pray for voca-

tions with a Traveling St. Joseph Statue. Households are invited

to sign-up to take a turn for one (or more) weeks of prayer.

You will exchange the St. Joseph Statue in the carrying case each

Sunday after Mass. Prayers for each day are inside the case,

along with the Holy Land Olivewood statue. You will find the

sign-up sheet in the church vestibule. The first available week

begins Jan. 10th. Questions: contact Cathy or Dino Durando

(816) 296-3187.

Pope Francis recently announced a Year of St. Joseph, in honor

of the 150th anniversary of the saint’s proclamation as patron of

the Universal Church. The Year began Dec. 8, 2020 and will

conclude Dec. 8, 2021; special indulgences are available for the

duration of the year.

A link to Pope Francis’ apostolic letter and the full text of the

Apostolic Penitentiary’s decree granting special indulgences for

the Year can be found on our parish web-
