QURBONO The Book of Offering

THE STRUCTURE OF THE NEW MARONITE QURBONO

The Structure of the Anaphora

The Memorial of the Son

The history of salvation, within the prayer of thanksgiving,

leads to the events of the incarnation and redemption. It stops

specifically at the Last Supper, on the eve of the passion of

the Lord Jesus, in which He gave us His Body and Blood. At

this point, the anaphora recalls what happened at this Supper,

as recorded in the Gospel and in the 1st letter of Saint Paul to

the Corinthians. The celebrant repeats the text of the

institution of the Eucharist; it is essential to the consecration,

because it includes the same words with which the Lord Jesus

consecrated the bread and wine for our sake.

Some distinctions between the Eastern and Western view.

The Western Latin rites consider these words alone as the

words of consecration. The Eastern rites, including the

Maronite rite, tie these words to the calling of the Holy Spirit;

they view them as a liturgical unity, complete and undivided.

There is no doubt that the words of the Lord Jesus at the Last

Supper, according to the theology of the Church, are

sufficient to consecrate the Qurbono. This is the meaning we

give to the profound bowing of the celebrant after each of the

Lord's words over the bread and wine. Yet, the liturgy has its

rules, and the theology of the Church, its own diversity and

wealth. Therefore, we consider the Eucharistic prayer as one,

likewise the Trinity is One; it is perfected only by the

invocation of the Holy Spirit.

Prayer of the Week

Prayer for our families

St. Teresa of Calcutta

Heavenly Father, you have given us the model of

life in the Holy Family of Nazareth.

Help us, O Loving Father, to make our family

another Nazareth where love, peace and joy reign.

May it be deeply contemplative, intensely

Eucharistic, revived with joy.

Help us to stay together in joy and sorrow in family

prayer.

Teach us to see Jesus in the members of our

families, especially in their distressing disguise.

May the Eucharistic heart of Jesus make our hearts

humble like his and help us to carry out our family

duties in a holy way.

May we love one another as God loves each one of

us, more and more each day, and forgive each

other’s faults as you forgive our sins.

Help us, O Loving Father, to take whatever you

give and give whatever you take with a big smile.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, cause of our joy: Pray

for us.

St. Joseph: Pray for us.

Holy Guardian Angels, be always with us, guide

and protect us.

Amen.

Prayer Requests: Our heavenly father asks us to “Pray for one another”

(James 5:16) and we are happy to join you in praying

for your specific need. A book has been placed on a

desk at the top of the main staircase. Please write your

intention and the date in the book, or email us at

[email protected] “Pray to me, and I

will listen to you” (Jeremiah 29; 12)

.
