Queridos amigos, Recién está empezando, la Pascua como ninguna otra Pascua. Es mi oración, e imagino que también es la oración de muchos de ustedes. La oscuridad que hemos estado experimentando, junto con la belleza de la primavera, ha provocado un contraste mundial. Vemos al igual que mu-chas más personas lo han visto, que la Luz de Cristo nos guía en tiem-pos de oscuridad. Una y otra vez he pensado que el coronavirus podría ser "la enfermedad que curó a una nación, que curó a un mundo". Cada Pascua (y Navidad), cuando es un momento de maravilla y paz, nos sacude la multitud más grande de lo habitual, que visita la Casa de Dios para honrarlo y orar. He oído hablar de algunos sacerdotes que colocan cintas blancas en las puertas de sus iglesias con el fin de mostrar cuánto los extrañamos a ustedes, nuestro pueblo—el pueblo de Dios a quien vivimos para servirlo y amamos hcerlo. También he sabido que hay personas que ponen cintas blancas en las puertas de sus casas para honrar a sus sacerdotes, quienes en esta Semana Santa y Pascua, ofrecen Misas y oraciones por la gente y por aquellos que son echados de menos por su gente. Dear Friends, It is just beginning, the Easter like no other Easter. It is my pray-er and the prayer, I imagine, of many of you, as well. The dark-ness we have been experiencing, alongside the beauty of spring-time, has brought about a contrast in the world. We see and many more people have seen that the Light of Christ leads us in times of darkness. I have thought over and over again that the coronavirus could be “the illness that healed a nation, that healed a world.” Each Easter (and Christmas), when it is a time of wonder and peace, we are struck by the greater than usual crowds that come to God’s House to honor Him and to pray. I have heard of priests placing white ribbons on the doors of their churches to show how much we miss you, our people—God’s People whom we live to serve and love to serve. I have also heard of people putting white ribbons on their doors at home to honor their priests who this Holy Week and Easter offer Masses and prayers for the people and who are missed by their people. My friends, my sons and daughters in the Lord, we your priests and, I, your Pastor, miss seeing you. The celebrations of this Holy Week have been filled with God’s grace but they have been emp-ty—literally empty—because you’re not allowed to come. We all know why and we understand why. Nevertheless, we feel deeply the loss, the many losses, of not being together as a praying fami-ly. Most especially, even though we know God takes care of us, we feel the spiritual hunger for Jesus in Holy Communion. Pray with me that the crowds of Easter will be enormous on that great substitute Easter Sunday to come when we are able to be together in church again. May there never be an empty pew at St. Anthony’s again! Today, we must sing and laugh and praise God with all our hearts! Jesus lives! Light conquers darkness! Alleluia, alleluia! Death has been conquered by our Savior, Jesus Christ, the Risen One! Even while we miss Him, we know He is very much with us. My friends, this year we are learning to take nothing and no one for granted. Let the darkness we face teach us to love the Light again. May we learn to live for what truly matters! May the Death of Jesus not be in vain in our lives! May His Light conquer our darkness! May His new life show us our new way of living! Happy Easter! (I very much) hope to see you all very soon! Act of Spiritual Communion
During these days when Holy Communion isn't possible please adopt the traditional and fruitful practice of praying a Spiritual Communion Prayer. Here is a suggested one, but feel free to pray one from your heart: An ideal practice is to make this prayer when you are meditat-ing on the readings from the Mass of the Day or watching it on TV or online. Dear Parishioners of St. Anthony, The unprecedented suspension of public Masses has been a shock to our lives and our prayer. It is also seriously affecting the daily opera-tions of the parish. We pay our employees and our bills by means of the Sunday collections. As you know, there are not any Sunday collec-tions being taken up these days! A special thank you to those of you who mailed in your contributions/envelopes. And to those of you who bring them to the drop box beside our St. Anthony statue next to the Padua Fund poor box. We want the Parish Community to get to know the teachers that make St. Anthony of Padua School so special, so we will share profiles over the year for all of our teachers. Meet our Preschool Teacher Mrs. Lendy Hernandez joined St. Anthony School this year. She transitioned last summer from working in the parish’s Religious Gift Store to the school. She is the Lead Teacher in the Pre-K3 classroom. Born in El Sal-vador, Mrs. Hernandez moved with her family to Mi-ami, Florida, when she was 15 years old. She feels teaching is her vocation, and she loves working with
children in a fun and safe environment.
Mrs. Hernandez has been an active parishioner of St. Anthony’s since 2012. She is involved in many minis-tries, is a Lector and a Catechist, as well as working with the parish youth and assisting in the Church’s

Indulgencia plenaria
During this difficult time, the Church is making available a plena-ry indulgence for those who are suffering from the coronavirus as well as those who care directly for those with the virus and those who are praying for the sick. Pertinent sections of the decree include: “This Apostolic Penitentiary… grants the gift of Indulgences in accordance with the following disposition. The Plenary Indul-gence is granted to the faithful suffering from Coronavirus, who are subject to quarantine by order of the health authority in hos-pitals or in their own homes if, with a spirit detached from any sin, they unite spiritually through the media to the celebration of Holy Mass, the recitation of the Holy Rosary, to the pious prac-tice of the Way of the Cross or other forms of devotion, or if at least they will recite the Creed, the Lord's Prayer and a pious invocation to the Blessed Virgin Mary, offering this trial in a spirit of faith in God and charity towards their brothers and sisters, with the will to fulfil the usual conditions (sacramental confession, Eucharistic communion and prayer according to the Holy Fa-ther's intentions), as soon as possible. “Health care workers, family members and all those who…care for the sick of Coronavirus according to the words of the divine Redeemer: “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (Jn 15: 13), will obtain the same gift of the Plenary Indulgence under the same conditions. “This Apostolic Penitentiary also willingly grants a Plenary Indul-gence under the same conditions on the occasion of the current world epidemic, also to those faithful who offer a visit to the Blessed Sacrament, or Eucharistic adoration, or reading the Holy Scriptures for at least half an hour, or the recitation of the Holy Rosary, or the pious exercise of the Way of the Cross, or the recitation of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, to implore from Al-mighty God the end of the epidemic, relief for those who are afflicted and eternal salvation for those whom the Lord has called to Himself.” And finally….“The Church prays for those who find themselves unable to receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick and of the Viaticum, entrusting each and every one to divine Mercy by virtue of the communion of saints and granting the faithful a Plenary Indulgence on the point of death, provided that they are duly disposed and have recited a few prayers during their lifetime (in this case the Church makes up for the three usual conditions required). For the attainment of this indulgence the use of the crucifix or the cross is recommended.” A plenary indulgence is the remission of all temporal punishment due to sin. We urge all parishioners, in a spirit of fraternal soli-darity, to avail themselves of these special indulgences and to make them known among our friends and family.

"Los trabajadores de la salud, los familiares y todos aquellos que ... cuidan a los enfermos de coronavirus según las palabras del divino Re-dentor:" Nadie tiene mayor amor que éste: dar la vida por los amigos "(Jn 15, 13 ), obtendrá el mismo regalo de la Indulgencia plenaria en las mismas condiciones. “Esta Penitenciaría Apostólica además, concede voluntariamente, en las mismas condiciones, una Indulgencia Plenaria con ocasión de la actual epidemia mundial, también a aquellos fieles que ofrecen una visita al Santísimo Sacramento, o la Adoración Eucarística, o a la lectura de las Sagradas Escrituras por al menos media hor. hora, o el rezo del Santo Rosario, o el ejercicio piadoso del Vía Crucis, o el rezo de la Co-ronilla de la Divina Misericordia, para implorar a Dios Todopoderoso el fin de la epidemia, el alivio de los afligidos y la salvación eterna para aquellos a quienes el Señor ha llamado a Sí". Y finalmente….“La Iglesia reza por los que estén imposibilitados de reci-bir el Sacramento de la Unción de los Enfermos y el Viático, encomen-dando a todos y cada uno de ellos a la Divina Misericordia en virtud de la comunión de los santos y concede a los fieles una Indulgencia plena-ria en el punto de muerte, siempre que estén debidamente dispuestos y hayan rezado durante su vida algunas oraciones (en este caso la Iglesia suple a las tres condiciones habituales requeridas). Para alcanzar esta indulgencia se recomienda el uso del crucifijo o de la cruz”. (cf. Enchiridion indulgentiarum, n.12). Una indulgencia plenaria es la eliminación total de la deuda de todo castigo temporal debido al pecado. Bring me Jesus, bring me the Holy Spirit. Teach me to practice the
virtues of courage, joyfulness, humility, and faith, and, like Eliza-
beth, to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Make me joyfully rest on your
bosom, Mary. I consecrate you as my mother, queen, and friend. I
give you my heart and everything I have— my home and family,
my material and spiritual goods. I am yours forever. Put your heart
in me so that I can do everything Jesus tells me.

PRAYER TO MARY, UNDOER OF KNOTS
Virgin Mary, Mother of fair love, Mother who never refuses to
come to the aid of a child in need, Mother whose hands never
cease to serve your beloved children because they are moved by
the divine love and immense mercy that exists in your heart, cast
your compassionate eyes upon me and see the snarl of knots that
exist in my life. You know very well how desperate I am, my pain,
and how I am bound by these knots. Mary, Mother to whom God
entrusted the undoing of the knots in the lives of his children, I
entrust into your hands the ribbon of my life. No one, not even the
Evil One himself, can take it away from your precious care. In your
hands there is no knot that cannot be undone. Powerful Mother,
by your grace and intercessory power with Your Son and My Lib-
erator, Jesus, take into your hands today this knot: [Mention your
request here] I beg you to undo it for the glory of God, once for all.
You are my hope. O my Lady, you are the only consolation God
gives me, the fortification of my feeble strength, the enrichment of
my destitution, and, with Christ, the freedom from my chains. Hear
my plea. Keep me, guide me, protect me, o safe refuge! Mary,
Undoer of Knots, pray for me.
A correction in the second paragraph of the Novena brochure (POPE FRANCIS & OUR LADY section): “Through your grace, your intercession, and your example, deliver us from all evil, Our Lady, and untie the knots that prevent us from being united with God, so that we, free from sin and error, may find Him in all things, may have our hearts placed in Him, and may serve Him always in our brothers and sisters.”

Madre cuyas manos trabajan sin tregua por sus hijos tanto amados, porque son empujadas del amor divino, y de la infi-nita misericordia que sale de tu corazón. Vuelve hacia mí tu mirada llena de compasión. Mira el cúmulo de “nudos” en mi vida. Conoces mi desesperación y mi dolor. Sabes cuánto me paralizan estos nudos María, Madre encargada de Dios, de desatar los “nudos” de la vida de sus hijos, pongo nueva-mente la cinta de mi vida en tus manos. En tus divinas ma-nos no hay “nudo” que no pueda ser desatado. Madre Omni-potente, con la gracia y Tu poder de intercesión con tu hijo Jesús, mi salvador, Recibe hoy este “nudo” (nombrarlo si es posible) por la Gloria de Dios te pido desatarlo, y desatarlo para siempre. Espero en ti. Eres el único consuelo que Dios me ha dado. Eres la fortaleza de mis fuerzas precarias, la riqueza de mis miserias, la liberación de todo lo que me impi-de de estar con Cristo.
