LIVING JUSTLY “You give that back right now!” How many of us have heard that line, probably more than once, as we were growing up? We come home with the trophy of what we thought was a really sweet deal, only to have our parents undo our profits by making us return the spoils. They had a different idea of what constituted a “fair trade agreement.” Justice in our dealings with oth-ers continues to be an important measure of our charac-ter, and like a good parent, God cares very much about how we treat each other and about how others treat us. God hears the cry of the poor, and answers the call of the oppressed. God’s beloved children are not to be-have like bullies.
VIVIR EN JUSTICIA “¡Devuélvelo ahora mismo!” ¿Cuántas veces hemos escuchado esa frase, probablemente más de una vez, cuando éramos niños? Llegamos a casa con el trofeo que consideramos un dulce hallazgo, para que nuestros padres deshicieran nuestras ganancias haciéndonos devolver el botín. Ellos tenían un concepto muy diferente de lo que constituye un acuerdo “de intercambio justo”. La justicia en nuestros tratos con otros constituye una importante medida de nuestro carácter, como un buen padre de fami-lia, a Dios le importa mucho cómo nos tratamos los unos a los otros y cómo los otros nos tratan a nosotros. Dios oye el clamor de los pobres y responde al llamado de los oprimidos. Los hijos bien amados de Dios no se han de comportar como abusadores.
Reflexión de las Lecturas
Primera lectura — Dios escucha el llanto de los oprimi-dos (Éxodo 22:20-26). Salmo — Te amo, oh Señor, mi fuerza (Salmo 18 [17]). Segunda lectura — El pueblo de Dios es conocido por su conversión y amor de Dios (1 Tesalonicenses 1:5c-10). Evangelio — La ley principal es la ley del amor (Mateo 22:34-40).
First Reading — You shall not oppress an alien, for you your-selves were once aliens in Egypt (Exodus 22:20-26). Psalm — I love you, Lord, my strength (Psalm 18). Second Reading — You became imitators of the Lord, so that you became a model for all believers (1 Thessalonians 1:5c-10). Dear Parishioners, It is with a bit of sadness that I write my last article to you. Four years and ten months ago I came to St. Christo-pher Church. It has been a very special time for me here and I have really treasured all the people of this parish and the many memories I have. You welcomed me into your hearts and made me feel loved and appreciated. I think that I will go down in history as the pastor who gave us new toilets! Also a new electronic sign! But those are material things. I hope that even more your re-lationship with God and the Church was strengthened by the sacraments I administered and the homilies I preached. I was inspired by your faith and devotion. Also I will remember the happy memories of the parish bazaars and the festival of Our Lady of Guadalupe. I also remember the Halloween parties we had around my birth-day. Speaking of Halloween we are going to have another Hal-loween celebration on my birthday: Thursday, October 29th. There will be a prize for the best Halloween Car! From 5 to 7 pm on October 29th people can drive by the parish parking lot to wish me a Happy Birthday and to say good-bye. The best Halloween looking car will win a Halloween basket full of goodies! I will always remember St. Christopher School and the dedication of the parish to keep the school running for so many years. The school was one of my favorite things about the parish and I really enjoyed presiding at the school Masses every week. I was also impressed by the many prayer groups in the parish who would meet regu-larly every week or every month. The parking lot of St. Christopher Church was always filled with cars and pa-rishioners who wanted to pray. As I go to my next ministry assignment at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, I ask you to continue to be generous in giving of your time, talent and treasure to St. Christopher and to give Fr. Miguel your total support. And please if you have not yet given to the 2020 Catholic Stewardship Appeal, I would ask you to do so now. We are almost to our goal and of course all monies over the goal will go into the fund for our new Air Conditioning system. I will always pray for you, please pray for me too! Estimados feligreses, Es con un poco de tristeza que les escribo mi último artículo. Hace cuatro años y diez meses vine a la Iglesia de San Cristóbal. Ha sido un momento muy especial para mí aquí y realmente he atesorado a toda la gente de esta parroquia y los muchos recuerdos que tengo. Me reci-bieron en sus corazones y me hicieron sentir amado y apreciado. ¡Creo que pasaré a la historia como el pastor que nos dio nuevos baños! ¡También un nuevo rótulo electrónico! Pero esas son cosas materiales. Espero que su relación con Dios y la Iglesia se fortalezca aún más con los sacra-mentos que administré y las homilías que prediqué. Me inspiré en su fe y devoción. También recordaré los felices recuerdos de los bazares parroquiales y la fiesta de Nues-tra Señora de Guadalupe. También recuerdo las fiestas de Halloween que teníamos alrededor de mi cumpleaños. Hablando de Halloween, vamos a tener otra celebración de Halloween en mi cumpleaños: el jueves 29 de octubre. ¡Habrá un premio al mejor automóvil decorado de Hal-loween! De 5 a 7 pm el 29 de octubre, la gente puede pasar por el estacionamiento de la parroquia para de-searme un feliz cumpleaños y decirme adiós. ¡El coche con mejor apariencia de Halloween ganará una canasta de Halloween llena de golosinas! Siempre recordaré la escuela San Cristóbal y la dedica-ción de la parroquia para mantener la escuela en fun-cionamiento durante tantos años. La escuela era una de mis cosas favoritas de la parroquia y realmente disfrutaba presidir las misas escolares cada semana. También me impresionaron los muchos grupos de oración en la parro-quia que se reunían regularmente cada semana o cada mes. El estacionamiento de la Iglesia de San Cristóbal siempre estuvo lleno de autos, y feligreses que querían orar. Mientras me dirijo a mi próxima asignación ministerial en St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, les pido que continúen siendo generosos al dar su tiempo, talento y tesoro a San Cristóbal y dar al Padre Miguel su total apoyo. Y por fa-vor, si aún no ha contribuido a la Campaña del Diezmo Católica 2020, les pido que lo hagan ahora. Casi hemos alcanzado nuestra meta y, por supuesto, todo el dinero que supere la meta se destinará al fondo de nuestro nuevo sistema de aire acondicionado. Gracias padres de familia por su asistencia a la junta de padres para la Primera Comunión y Con-firmación.Para los que no asistieron pedimos que pasen a la Oficina lo más pronto posible de Martes a Viernes de 11:30 am a 4:00pm y paguen la multa de la junta e informarles lo que se hará para el segundo año de catecismo. Recordatorio: El Día 29 Jueves, 30 Viernes y 31 Sábado no habrá clases de Catecismo. Los estu-diantes regresan Noviembre 5 Jueves ,6 Viernes y 7 para el Sábado. Thank you to all the families that came to the parent meeting for First Holy Communion and Con-firmation. If you miss the meeting we ask that you come to the office from Tuesday to Friday from 11:30 am to 4:00 pm you will need to pay the penalty and we will inform you of what we will be doing for the 2nd yr of Catechism. Reminder: No Catechist Class for October 29th Thursday ,30th Friday and 31st Satuday. Students come back November 5th Thursday, 6th Friday and 7th Saturday.

Dear Parishioners, As you probably guessed by now due to Covid-19 restrictions we are unable to have our fall Bazaar this year on Octo-ber 3rd and 4th! As you know this is a very important fund raiser for our Church and School. The Bazaar was always a significant part of the parish budget. However, one of the biggest money makers of the Bazaar was the raffle. Fortu-nately we are still able to have that. So I am encouraging you to purchase as many raffle tickets as you can. I deeply appreciate your generosity. I also appreciate your ongoing financial support during these difficult times. May God bless you and your families and keep you all safe. The Drawing for the Raffle is postponed until Sunday October 25th at 8:30 pm.

Estimados feligreses, Como probablemente ya habrás adivinado debido a las restricciones de Covid-19, ¡no podemos tener nuestro Bazar de otoño este año el 3 y 4 de octubre! Como saben, esta es una recaudación de fondos muy importante para nuestra Iglesia y Escuela. El Bazar siempre fue una parte importante del presupuesto parroquial. Incluso, uno de los mayores genera-dores de di-nero del Bazar fue la Rifa. Afortunadamente todavía podemos tener eso. Así que les animo a que compren tantos boletos de rifa como puedan. Agradezco profundamente su generosidad. También agradezco su continuo apoyo financiero durante estos tiempos difíciles. Que Dios los bendiga a ustedes y a sus familias y los mantenga a todos a salvo.
