Christmas 2015
at John Therry We know that it is very early to be talking about Christmas, but we would like to take this chance to get you thinking about the annual John Therry Christmas Luncheon and Hamper Drive. Every year the John Therry community works in conjunction with St Vincent De Paul to host a lunch for those in our community who may be struggling to make ends meet. This year is no different and we are aiming again to act in the way of Mary and bring the spirit of Christmas to nearly 40 local families.
In the coming weeks learning group mentors will be distributing a list of items, and asking for each student to choose one item to donate. These will be made into hampers that are given to families at the Christmas Luncheon. There are a variety of items, from bon-bons to fruit cake, and your small donation will ensure there is something special on a family’s table come Christmas day. If that does not suit, a donation of $5.00 cash can be made instead. Cash can be donated over multiple weeks if needed.

The Christmas Luncheon will take place on Saturday the 12th of December, and we will be asking for both student and staff volunteers to help out on the day later in the term. This is always a great day for both the families who attend, as well as the student volunteers. This year we will be looking for students to help in a variety of areas- if you are interested in helping please contact Miss Webb ([email protected]). Thank-you to the year 12 students who put up the Jesse Tree in the sacred space outside the library. As well as reminding students about the hamper drive and luncheon, the tree will also act as a giving tree. Please take a tag and bring an unwrapped gift that will be given to the children who attend the luncheon. We are also asking for donations of adult presents for attendees as well. Thank-you in advance for your generosity. Ms Wendy Rowan and Miss Katina Webb
