ASCENSION OF OUR LORD
The Ascension of the Lord
“That the God of our Lord
Jesus Christ, the Father of
glory, may give you a spirit
of wisdom and revelation
resulting in knowledge of
him.”
We love and serve a God we
cannot see, yet we see Him in
everyone and everything
around us. Being good stew-
ards of all that is around us is
how we show our love of God.

MOTHER’S DAY ROSE SALE: Little Way invites you to
participate in the great work that our Good Lord has called
us to do. Our non-profit organization, which served over
2000 clients in 2017, offers free pregnancy tests, ultra-
sounds, education and loving care to those facing unplanned
pregnancies, as well as education and tangible support for
families unable to provide the basic necessities for their chil-
dren. At each Mass on Mother’s Day, church members will
be offering beautiful long-stem roses for a donation of $2
each or $20 per dozen. With your kind partnership, we will
continue to offer truth, guidance, help, and HOPE to those
who need it most.
2018 CATHOLIC WORLD MISSION COLLECTION: Next
weekend, our parish will take up donations for the Mission Collec-
tion, which supports the Catholic Home Missions and International
missionary agencies, such as the Propagation of the Faith. Your
donations help the Church’s missionary work, providing monetary
assistance for the pastoral and evangelizing programs of the Church
in the United States, Africa, Asia, the Pacific Islands, and remote
regions of Latin America. Donations fund the education and sup-
port of seminarians, religious novices and lay catechists; the work
of religious communities in education, health care and social ser-
vices; communication and transportation needs; disaster and emer-
gency relief when necessary; and the Church’s ministry to children.

MOVIE NIGHTS
THURDAYS AT 6:30 IN THE CASPER CENTER
May 24: A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS—This Academy
Award winning film reflects a portrayal of St. Thomas More as
ultimate man of conscience and as remaining true to his princi-
ples and religion under all circumstances and at all times.
MARRIAGE MOMENTS
May 13: Complaining can poison your marriage. Sure, there
are times when your spouse does something you don’t like and
you should honestly share that. Other ties you may just want to
vent. Occasional complaining is OK, but repetitive or more
than once a day makes you a sourpuss. It’s hard to love a per-
son with a bad disposition.
PARENTING POINTERS:
May 13: What does it mean to be a mother? Does it mean to
give birth? That’s only one day. If your children are old
enough, brainstorm with them things that a good mother does.
Think of the mothers who preceded you. What were their moth-
erly qualities?
THE PRESBYTERAL ORDINATION of Rev. Mr. Robert Barnell,
Rev. Mr. Brandon DeToma, Rev. Mr. David Farrell, Rev. Mr. Kien
Nguyen and Rev. Mr. Minh Vu will be celebrated by Archbishop
Joseph Kurtz on Saturday, May 26, at 11:00 am at the Cathedral of
the Assumption. The people of the Archdiocese of Louisville are
welcome and encouraged to attend this joyful celebration. For
more information, contact the Vocation office at (502) 471-2121.
There will also be a Holy Hour offered in thanksgiving for the or-
dination on Friday, May 25, from 6 pm to 7 pm at Holy Family
Catholic Church. All are welcome to join us as we pray in vigil for
those about to be ordained.
Anyone who serves alcohol at functions must attend an Alcohol
Awareness Class. It must be renewed every 3 years. If you serve
alcohol at any functions, please call the office to get signed up for the
training.
PICNIC CHANCES: There is an error on the chances. The
prize money does not add up to $3000. We will be adding a 4th
drawing of $250. As you are selling your tickets, let people
know about the 4th drawing.. Also, inflatables date for Thurs-
day is June 14, not 15th.
MARRIAGE ENRICHMENT: Make plans today for Saturday,
June 23, 8:30 am, where we will spend time together exploring
the spiritual dimensions of marriage and how inviting God once
more into our marriage is often the greatest gift we can give our
spouses, our children, and the world around us. Join Deacon
Rich Zoldak and his wife Cherie at St. Martin of Tours Parish
Hall at 639 S Shelby Street for a day of celebration, exploration,
gratitude and simple attention paid to the most holy of unions-
the love of a husband and wife for each other. The event in-
cludes lunch and runs until 3 pm . The event is free and open to
all married couples throughout the Archdioceses regardless of
the number of years you have been married. Preregistration is
required. For more information or to register, email the Family
Ministries Office at [email protected] or call 502-636-0296.
KEYS: Please contact the office if you have keys to the building or
to the ball field concession stand It is required that I verify all keys
on file. I appreciate your cooperation. Sue Portman 969-3291.
