St. John Paul II On Motherhood

In honor of Mother’s Day, we look at the words of St. John Paul II from his apostolic letter “On the Dignity of Women” about the unique

vocation of motherhood: “Motherhood involves a special communion with the mystery of life, as it develops in the mother’s womb. The mother is

filled with wonder at this mystery of life, and “understands” with unique intuition what is happening inside her. In the light of the “beginning”, the

mother accepts and loves as a person the child she is carrying in her womb. This unique contact with the new human being developing within

her gives rise to an attitude towards human beings – not only towards her own child, but every human being – which profoundly marks the woman’s

personality.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Stewards Witness: “Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.” 1 JOHN 4:15 How strong is your faith? When you have an opportunity to either defend or clarify a question about our Catholic faith, do you do it? Or, do you remain silent so that others don’t think you are weird? Pray for the courage to be a strong Steward in all circumstances and to share your witness with others. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

PleaserespondbyJune11th.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Perhaps you have noticed how beautiful and inspirational our Grotto has become, and if so, remember to stop and thank a member of our

St. Joseph’s Society. This men’s organization is the oldest society of our parish, founded on April 17, 1910. St. Joseph was a carpenter, and the men of the society

carry on his tradition by volunteering time, talents, & labor to improve our buildings & grounds.

Members meet monthly & volunteer when their schedules permit. If you are interested or would like more information about becoming a member

or contributing your own time and talent to our many projects, please contact the rectory at 856-691-7526 or Paul at 856-327-0524.

R.C.I.A.

Those individuals who wish to become full members of the Roman Catholic Church are invited to join this year’s R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) class, which will start in September. The class consists of mainly preparing those adults to receive the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism (re-birth), Confirmation (re-commitment), and Eucharist (to be nourished). These three sacraments enable us to be fully prepared to spread the Good News and to live out the Gospel message and our baptismal call. If you know anyone who is interested in this process, please contact Deacon Rich at the Rectory (856-691-7526) as soon as possible. The R.C.I.A. team looks forward to speaking to anyone interested in the process or to answer any questions anyone may have regarding the process ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~May is National Stroke Awareness Month
A stroke occurs every 40 seconds and yet up to 80% of strokes can be prevented. This is why St. Padre Pio Parish- Rosary Hall is hosting Life Line Screening, the nation’s leading provider of preventive health screenings, on Monday, May 21, 2018. Screenings are fast, painless and affordable. Three key tests check for blocked carotid arteries, an irregular heart rhythm called atrial fibrillation, and high blood pressure, which are the three leading risk factors for stroke. Nearly 800,000 strokes will occur this year, taking a life approximately every four minutes. Other tests check for abdominal aortic aneurysms and hardening of the arteries in the legs. A bone density screening to assess osteoporosis risk is also offered and is appropriate for both men and women. Many events also offer blood tests, including cholesterol, glucose and c-reactive protein screenings, as well as take-home colon cancer early detection tests. Screening packages start at $139. Single tests cost around $70.
