Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament/CLOSED Due to the current restrictions regarding group gatherings, there will be no public adoration of the Blessed Sacrament until further notice ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Finally brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed on and triumph, as it did among you, and that

we may be delivered. 2 Thessalonians 3: 1-2

Unfailing Prayer to St. Anthony O holy St. Anthony, gentlest of saints, your love for God and charity for

all God’s creatures made you worthy, when on earth, to possess miraculous powers. Miracles followed your word, which you were ever

ready to speak for those in trouble or need. Encouraged by this thought, I implore you to grant also my request.

(Here mention your petition) The answer to my prayer may require a miracle; even so, you are the

Saint of Miracles! O gentle and loving St. Anthony, whose heart was always full of human

sympathy, whisper my petition into the ears of the Holy Infant Jesus, who loved to rest in your arms, and the gratitude of my heart will always

be yours. Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be

Amen ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Cross The cross is a symbol of Christianity. Whether we wear crosses around our neck or carry them in our pockets, or hang them on a wall, when we rely on and give

honor to the cross, we testify to our faith. We are blessed to be Christ’s witnesses. St. Helena, mother of the first Christian emperor, Constantine, is believed to have

found the True Cross, the one that actually held our Lord. Helena found three crosses, one of which was declared the True Cross when a woman was healed after touching it. Constantine built the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre over this area and the area where the tomb of Jesus was discovered. The church was consecrated on September 24, which is celebrated now as the Feast of the

Exaltation of the Cross. There are many different types of crosses. The Latin Cross is the one with which we are most familiar. St. Andrew’s Cross is in the form of an X, indicating the type

of cross on which he is said to have died. St. Anthony’s Cross (the Tau Cross) has the crossbar at the top. The ends of the Passion Cross are pointed, like nails.

Then there are the Anchor Cross and the Budded Cross. The Jerusalem Cross has a large cross in the middle, symbolizing Christ, and four small crosses,

symbolizing the spread of Jesus’ teachings to the four corners of the world. Or the five crossed together can symbolize the five wounds of Christ.

Regardless of the shape or size, the cross is a symbol of Christ’s crucifixion, his death, his sacrificial love for us. The empty cross reminds us of his victory over

death. Thomas a Kempis teaches us, “In the cross is salvation, in the cross is life; in the cross is protection from thy enemies.”

On Good Friday, the faithful come to church to venerate the cross. The young altar servers take turns holding the massive wood, one on each side of the

crossbar. The people process forward and kiss the means of our salvation. Our encounters with the cross throughout our lives give us strength as Christians. Through prayer,

the cross brings grace – grace to persevere, to love one another, and to overcome daily obstacles.

Lord, we all search for you. We pray for all who have not yet found you. We pray that we can witness to the truth and help others to understand all that you have done for us. And we thank you for those who have sacrificed their

lives to preach your truth and to offer to us the opportunity for salvation. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

STEWARDSHIP Stewards Cornerstones “The stone which the builders rejected has become

the cornerstone.” 1 PETER 2:7 Every person has been given gifts from the Holy

Spirit. These are called “charisms” and they are used to build God’s kingdom on

earth. While many people are able to recognize their natural talents and abilities,

they may be unsure of their charisms as Christian Stewards. If you know

someone who is struggling for a direction in life, give them a little encouragement.

Help them discern their charisms and how God is calling them to use them.

Remember - no gift is too small or insignificant in God’s salvation plan.

THIS IS OUR FAITH The Sacred Environment

Sacred Artwork and Icons

Sacred artwork and icons are a reflection of God’s holiness. Artwork in the

Christian community flourished underground in the catacombs and moved into the churches that were converted or erected after Christianity became legal. A heresy that started in the 8th century known as Iconoclasm, opposed the use of images for devotional purposes. Icons were sadly smashed and destroyed in churches during

this time by those who opposed their use. The seventh ecumenical council, Nicaea II in 787, defined as proper and helpful the use of icons. Iconoclastic

controversy would be launched two more times in the 9th century, under Leo V the Armenian and again under Theophilus. It was an important factor in the western

and Eastern schism.

“This world in which we live needs beauty in order not to sink into despair. It is beauty, like truth, which brings joy to the heart of man.”

As I Sees It

My Deer Parishionerz of St. Padre Pio Parish,

It iz me! Batman, da rectory doggo! It iz Mother's Day! Mommoz r very, very important because witout dem dere would b no kiddoz, doggoz or (begrudgingly) catz. Dey r also very special 4 all da tings dat dey do 4 us EVERY SINGLE DAY (lik give us treatz and walkies and treatz and huggoz and treatz)! So giv ur mommo a great big lick in da face (or if dat b a little weird givez her a social distance appropriate huggo, kisso, a card and some flowerz and stuff)! May iz also da month dat we honor Mary, da Mother of God. Just lik our own mommoz, da Blessed Mother doez so many tings for us! She luvs us and iz da first and greatest disciple and her "yes" allowed God's plan of salvation to enter into da world. Also, da Blessed Mother knowz what it iz lik 2 deal with pain and suffering thru da death of her Son. Most of all, Mary helpz us grow closer 2 Jesus by carrying us in her armz and placing us at His feet. Da problem iz dat we can't giv her a big lick in da face (or udder tings if u still tink datz weird). But we can pray for her intercession in our livez by praying da rosary every day and saying special prayerz like da 'Memorare'. So on dis Mother's Day, don't forget 2 giv our Mother in heaven da gift of ourselvez so dat we can b devoted 2 Christ. Happy Mother's Day! God Bless! And givz da doggos all da treatz! JESUS CHRIST,

after having given us all He could give, that is to say, the merit of His toils, His sufferings, and His bitter death; after having given us His Adorable Body

and Blood to be the Food of our souls, willed also to give us the most precious thing He had left, which is His holy Mother.”

The Gift of Peace

We often define peace as the absence of conflict, but perhaps a better definition is “the gift that comes

from absolute trust in God, knowing that He will always take care of us.”

Daniel Pritchard

Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy. Act in me, O Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy. Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit, that I love all that is holy. Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit, to defend all that is holy.

Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit, that I always may be holy. Amen

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Prayer to St. Monica, Patroness of Mothers Blessed Monica, mother of St. Augustine,
we give thanks to our Father in Heaven Who looked with mercy upon your tears over your wayward son.
His conversion and heroic sanctification were the fruit of your prayers. Dear St. Monica
we now ask you to pray with us for all those sons and daughters that have wandered away from God,
and to add your prayers to those of all mothers who are worried over their children.
Pray also for us that, following your example, we may, in the company of our children,
one day enjoy the eternal vision of our Father in Heaven. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Prayer To Obtain A Favor Through The Intercession Of The Servant Of God
Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Eternal Father, You alone grant us every blessing in Heaven and on earth,
through the redemptive mission of Your Divine Son, Jesus Christ, and by the working of the Holy Spirit. If it be according to Your Will, glorify Your servant, Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, by granting the favor I now request through his prayerful intercession (mention your request). I make this prayer
confidently through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Act of Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all
things, and I long for You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You have already
come, I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You; never permit me to be separated from You.
