To Serve = Blessings Abraham’s story in today’s first reading always amazes me. In Jewish tradition being charita-ble to travelers or strangers was very important be-cause in this act of service, blessings were found. Abraham stops everything he is doing to be of ser-vice to the three strangers. Why? Perhaps because in serving others he felt as he was serving God himself. This reminds me of my Deaconate ordination rite when Archbishop Myers told me “serve your people as you would serve Jesus himself.” Imagine if all Christians were to think this way, our world would be a better place. So let us serve one another in love as we would serve Jesus himself and blessings will be out-poured on us. Fr. Bismarck ===============================

MOMENTS OF MERCY
JULY 2016
What is the opposite of indifference? After reading through Misericordia e Vultus, we see that being compassion-ate is the opposite of indifference. Pope Francis encourages us not to "fall into humiliating indifference or a monotonous routine that prevents us from discovering what is new! Let us ward off destructive cynicism! Let us open our eyes and see the misery of the world, the wounds of our brothers and sisters who are denied their dignity, and let us recognize that we are compelled to heed their cry for help!" (MV, no. 15). How easy it is in today's society to ignore the cries of those in need and to become cynical about the state of the world around us. We might feel that our small acts of mercy cannot really change anything. But the indifference of the world will not change until we start showing the compassion-ate love and mercy of God toward everyone we meet and become more involved in communities.
1. Dare to be compassionate! Read the local paper or watch the local news. Recognize where there is a need in your community, and pray for those who are in need and for those caring for them.
2. Volunteer at a local charity organization this month. If there is a need that you have come to recognize in your community, see if there are particular organizations that your parish is involved in, and join with others in supporting your community.
The wine, hosts, and tabernacle
candle may be offered in honor of a
loved one for a month.
THE WINE consecrated and distributed at all Masses today has been offered for the spiritual and temporal welfare of Anita Pelaez.
THE CANDLES used today at all Masses have been offered for the spiritual and temporal welfare of Jimmy Pate.
THE HOSTS used today at all Masses have been offered for the repose of the soul of Gail Chimento.
THE TABERNACLE CANDLE used today at all Masses has been offered for the spiritual and temporal welfare of Julia De Jesus.

SAINT MARY MAGDALENE
Mary Magdalene, is one of those who traveled with Jesus as one of His followers. Mary Magdalene was one
of the many “who were assisting them [Jesus and the Twelve] out of their means.” She was one of those
who stood by the cross of Jesus with his mother. And, of all the “official” witnesses that might have been
chosen for the first awareness of the Resurrection, she was the one to whom that privilege was given. She
is known as the "Apostle to the Apostles."
PRAYER TO SAINT MARY MAGDALENE
Saint Mary Magdalene, woman of many sins, who by conversion became the beloved of Jesus, thank you
for your witness that Jesus forgives through the miracle of love. You, who already possess eternal happi-
ness in His glorious presence, please intercede for me, so that some day I may share in the same everlasting
joy. Amen.

SANTA MARIA MAGDALENA
ORACION A SANTA MARIA MAGDALENA
