Sacramental Preparation Corner This week students in 2nd year preparation for Holy Communion learned that Jesus Saves Us in Chapter 2. They learned how Jesus gave up his life for us. We also review the 7 sacraments of the church.
Catholic Fact : The Church celebrates seven sacraments, which are divided into three catego-ries. The Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Con-formation, Eucharist) form the foundation of eve-ry Christian life. The Sacraments of Healing (Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick) celebrate the healing power of Jesus. The Sacraments at the Service of Communion (Matr imony, Holy Or-ders) help members serve the community.
Rincón de Preparación Sacramental Esta semana, los estudiantes en preparación de 2º año para la Sagrada Comunión aprendieron que Jesús nos salva en el capítulo 2. Aprendieron cómo Jesús dió su vida por nosotros. También repasamos los 7 sacra-mentos de la iglesia.
Verdad católica: La Iglesia celebra siete sacra-mentos, agrupados en tres categorías: Sacramentos de la Iniciación (Bautismo, Conformación, Eu-caristía) asientan las bases de toda vida Cristiana; Sacramentos de Sanación (Reconciliación, Un-ción de los Enfermos) celebran el poder sanador de Jesús; Sacramentos al Servicio de la Comuni-dad (Matr imonio, Órden sacerdotal) ayudan a los miembros de la Iglesia a servir a la comunidad.
Deacon’s Corner November 21, 2021 Imagine that you are a young shepherd boy of only 10 years, helping your father and the other men of your family tend a very large herd of sheep. You are very excited that night, as this was the first time your father had asked you to assist the family in caring for the ani-mals that made up your family’s livelihood. Feeling very confident, you direct the animals into a protective cove. All of a sudden, there is a bright light in the sky and what appears to be an angel is hovering over the sheep and the shepherds. The shepherds had heard of angels before, but never had the occasion to be in the presence of one. They were told by the angel that the long-awaited Messiah and Lord had been born in Bethlehem, the City of David, and was wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. Upon arrival at that place, all was as the angels had told them. Everyone was in awe and amazed at being in the presence of the Christ Child, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Even the animals in the stable appeared to be on their best behavior in his presence. Mary, the mother of the child, observed all that was happening and kept the events and experiences within her heart. She would later reveal the name of the child as Jesus, which means God Saves. Even as a small child, his majesty could not truly be masked, his iden-tity hidden. The King was born and dwelt among us. Many years later he would stand in front of the San-hedrin and be questioned. They said, “If you are the Messiah, tell us,” but he replied to them, “If I tell you, you will not believe, and if I question, you will not respond. But from this time on the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God.” They all asked, “Are you then the Son of God?” He replied to them, “You say that I am.” Then they said, “What further need have we for testimony? Imagina que eres un joven pastor de tan solo 10 años, que ayuda a su padre y a los demás hombres de su familia a cuidar un gran rebaño de ovejas. Está muy emocionado esa noche, ya que era la primera vez que su padre le pedía que ayudara a la familia a cui-dar de los animales que constituían el susten-to de su familia. Sintiéndose muy confiado,
dirige a los animales a una cubierta protectora. De repente, hay una luz brillante en el cielo y lo que pare-ce ser un ángel se presenta sobre las ovejas y los pas-tores. Los pastores habían oído hablar de ángeles an-tes, pero nunca tuvieron la ocasión de estar en presen-cia de uno. El ángel les dijo que el tan esperado Me-sías y Señor había nacido en Belén, la Ciudad de Da-vid, y estaba envuelto en pañales y acostado en un pe-sebre. Al llegar a ese lugar, todo fue como los ángeles les habían dicho. Todos estaban asombrados de estar en presencia del Niño Jesús, el Rey de reyes y el Señor de señores. Incluso los animales del establo parecían comportarse de la mejor manera en su presencia. María, la madre del niño, observó todo lo que estaba sucediendo y guardó los eventos y experiencias en su corazón. Más tarde revelaría el nombre del niño como Jesús, que significa Dios salva. Incluso cuando era un niño pequeño, su majestad realmente no podía enmas-cararse, su identidad no podía ocultarse. El Rey nació y habitó entre nosotros. Muchos años después se para-ría frente al Sanedrín y sería interrogado. y le dijeron: “Dinos si eres el Mesías”. La fiesta de Cristo Rey fue instaurada por el Papa Pío XI el 11 de Marzo de 1925. Poster iormente se movió la fecha de la celebración dándole un nuevo sentido. Al cerrar el año litúrgico con esta fiesta se
quiso resaltar la importancia de Cristo como centro de toda la historia universal. Si quieres conocer lo que Jesús nos anticipó de ese gran día, puedes leer el Evangelio de Mateo 25,31-46.
The feast of Christ the King was established by Pope Pius XI on March 11, 1925. Later the date of the celebration was moved giving it a new meaning. When closing the liturgical year with this feast, they wanted to highlight the importance of Christ as the center of all universal history. If you want to know what Jesus anticipated us about that great day, you can read the Gospel of Matthew 25,31-46.
