WHAT IS A CATECHIST?

The word catechist comes from the Greek word “echo.”

Catechists echo the Word of God to our parish children.

They come from all occupations and all ages, women, men,

parents, grandparents, confirmed teenagers. Catechists are

people, just like you, who generously volunteer their time

to share our Catholic faith and values with our younger

brothers and sisters. They are positive role models who

help children grow in faith and spiritually. What an im-

portant ministry! Through the words and actions of our

catechists, the Good News continues to spread throughout

the world! Top Reasons to Become a Catechist!

- You will grow in your own faith, learn the teachings of

the Church, and deepen your relationship with Jesus.

- Your Baptism calls you to share the ministry of Jesus.

- Children, teens and adults in today’s world need to hear

The Word of God.

- You will have fun and make new friends.

- You will help others deepen their relationship with

Jesus.

- You will be handing down a 2000-year-old tradition.

- It is our job: Jesus sent us “go and teach all nations.”
