    SAINTS PETER & PAUL GIVING TREE!

    Welcome to the holy season of Advent! We hope that we can journey together

    as a faith-community this season of giving. The parish is once again knocking on the doors of your hearts to participate in our annual “Giving Tree” project. We invite you to please take an ornament from the “Giving Tree” located next to the Sacred Heart shrine. When you do so, please drop your unwrapped donation directly to the parish office. Thank you in advance for your gener-ous support! God Bless!

  • Saints Peter & Paul Tucson, AZ

    Fourth Sunday of Advent “Where does God dwell?” is a question on the minds of many as we continue to adjust to the pandemic. David wanted to build an ornate dwelling for the Ark of the Covenant, but God said, “No, that’s not what I had in mind!”

    The reading from Romans teaches us that God is present in the Word, and in Luke’s Gospel passage today, Jesus is residing in the womb of Mary. We know that Jesus is present in the assembly gathered, the Koinonia, as well as within the Eucharistic species. But no matter how one experiences the presence of Jesus, these days are challenging. In many places, only limited numbers contin-ue to be allowed in church, while others are only able to worship via live stream. None of the pat answers to where God dwells really fit. We need to try and answer this with new eyes and ears and heart. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

    On behalf of Fr. Crino, Fr. Bala, Fr. Justin, and all of us here at

    Gracious Lord, Child of Bethlehem

    Gracious Lord, Child of Bethlehem, As you were born into a family who fled to Egypt as refugees, help us grow in solidarity with refugees everywhere, to know we are all refugees, until our hearts find refuge in you. As you were born under an oppressive regime, let us grow in solidarity with those whose governments deny them their rights and try to undermine their dignity. Help us work for just governance every-where. As it was workers, the shepherds, who first came to know you, the carpenter’s son, let us remember the dignity of human labor—that you share a special love for those who work hard for their sustenance, and toil beside them. Let us honor you, in work and in prayer, that livelihoods may be secure, and that workers not be exploited. As you were adored by the Magi who came from far-off nations to honor you, let us bring to all nations the great good news that is your love. As your coming was joyfully sung by angels, let us with joy celebrate the gift of life every time a child of God is conceived, and honor that gift with our care. As you were denied any birthplace but a stable, help us to open our homes, our lives, our hearts to the coming of God and his presence in your people. Be born this time into our hearts, dear Lord. Gracious Lord, Child of Bethlehem, through the cradle of our hearts, be born into our world.

  • Fourth Sunday of Advent ~ December 20, 2020 Ss. Peter & Paul Parish

    A NOTE FROM YOUR PASTOR

    Dear Parishioners,

    It is Christmas week. I hope the countdown to the 25th of December is

    peaceful for you. Despite all that 2020 throws at us, Dr. Seuss is right. The Grinch

    cannot stop Christmas from coming. “Then the Grinch thought of something he

    hadn't before! What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if

    Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more!”

    We can each name a Grinch from this year. It might be poor health,

    unemployment, quarantine, education challenges, politicians, wildfires, violence,

    and more. They are all real, all burdensome. Yet, nothing can ever come between

    us and the love of God made visible in Christ Jesus our Lord. [Romans 8:38]

    That is the point of the Incarnation. God is with us in this fallen world,

    countering the effects of sin. We sing it in the English carol:

    From God our heavenly Father a blessed angel came;

    And unto certain shepherds brought tiding of the same;

    How that in Bethlehem was born the Son of God by name.

    “Fear not, then,” said the angel, “Let nothing you affright;

    This day is born a Savior of a pure Virgin bright,

    To free all those who trust in him from Satan’s power and

    might.”

    O tiding of comfort and joy, comfort and joy;

    O tiding of comfort and joy.

    A Blessed Christmas to you and yours,

    Father Patrick M. Crino

    Pastor
