About the Book
The book is the culmination of a yearlong soul
searching and self- assessment. These aren’t merely
outpourings of my heart; every poem here delves
deeply into the different facets of life. My firm
belief in self-assertion has given me the strength to
vocalise my thoughts on topics close to heart. This
collection comprises fifty poems, each accompanied
by a relevant image, related to five different themes.
I wish everyone a pleasurable reading.

About the Author
Formerly a teacher of English with two decades of
experience, Rathi Sreekumar took to poem writing
initially to self-introspect, which later turned out to
be a path to self-discovery. Always passionate about
words, she maintains that expressing her thoughts
and feelings and reproducing some of her real-life
incidents in verse form have truly liberated her and
brought in a sense of self satisfaction.
The author currently resides in Kochi, Kerala with
her husband and two sons.

of the Self and the need to adapt and change one’s
outlook and attitude. Stagnant and redundant
thinking will only weigh us down...so it’s pertinent
to surpass our own weaknesses and emerge stronger
and wiser.

Confessions of a Procrastinator
Oh! The joy of lazing around unmindful of stress
Freeing the mind from deadlines and tension.
Sitting pretty at home with my legs at rest
I cannot but feel as if I’m in heaven on earth.
Hidden in these gleeful
moments is an invisible being
He subdues me to obey his vicious designs.
I feel helpless and passive in his strong hold
This devil is none other than Procrastination.
I sheepishly admit… I tend
to put things off time and again
‘There’s always another day’ seems to be my motto.
Unfortunately, that ‘day’ never appears to manifest
And thus, the saga goes on…
much to the chagrin of others.
My words profess… ‘Rise
and Shine’ and here I am, still in bed.
Of course, not everything is as bad as it appears
The routine events go smoothly as they should.
But the mind knows
that much more is needed from the body.

I truly hope in the coming days
I will outdo my own expectations.
Unshackle the fetters of inaction and laxity
Put in more efforts to break free from
the devil’s clutches
And reinvent myself to attain a healthy
