My Fellow Elks: February is here and the Elk year is rapidly coming to a close. With February comes the election of officers for the next Elks Year starting in April. We will be opening the nominations at our first meeting in Febru-ary, the 8th and the actual elections will take place at our second meeting in February, the 22nd. This is very important part of our lodge and you are
encouraged to participate in this process of electing the 2017/2018 officers for our lodge. We are all proud to be members of this lodge of Elks and what we do for the community but the only way we can continue is to have individuals who are willing to volunteer their time for the better-ment of the lodge. If you are interested getting involved, please contact one of the current offi-cers or e-mail me at [email protected] . There are plenty of areas that we need help, wither its overseeing one of the programs, running one of our events or helping out, there is al-ways room for someone who wants to get involved, we can never have too many volunteers. Finally, I must talk about our membership. We starting off the Elk’s year in April with 454 mem-bers and we have initiated 31 new members and reinstated 10 members and I am saddened to report that we have lost 9 members due to their death. We have 3 new members that are ready to become members, which puts our lodge at a total of 428 members. That is a net loss of 26 members over last year. We currently have 61 members that have not paid their dues this year and are at jeopardy of being dropped from our membership. This is your lodge and we all need to be concerned about our membership and remembering that membership is the life blood of this lodge so if you know someone that is part of the 61 members,(see list posted in the club) please encourage them to continuing to be a member of our Great Lodge and the Organization. Fraternally, Joe Clancy PER, Exalted Ruler www.sanfordelks1679.org Email: [email protected]

Tip of the Antlers!
A great big “hoof clappin” Tip of the Antlers to:
Lee Littiken, Steve Johnson, Joe Clancy, Norman Brewer, Steve Gunter and June Gunter for representing the Sanford Elk Lodge at the District Deputy clinic held at the Raleigh Elks Lodge on January 29th
Brent Reagan for plowing the lodge parking lot after the snow and ice storm.
Scott Pace and Nathan Cochrane for opening the Club Room up during the winter weather we had on Jan 7th
This is what makes our Lodge successful!!! It takes lots and lots of volunteers. Thanks again to everyone that
takes time out of their busy schedule to help our Lodge continue to demonstrate
Membership
Our lodge is on track to start the new year down 30 members from where we started last year. As you know,
“the Lifeblood of Our Order” is our membership. Our membership will continue to decline unless we can
generate new members and retain our current members. Surely each of our members knows someone they
feel will make an great Elk and be an asset to our order. We could double our membership if each current
member would sponsor just one new member. Remember, the pool season is quickly approaching. If you
have friends that you know want to join for the pool, NOW is the time to sign them up so they can be initi-
ated before the pool opens.
Family Environment
Food nights are not just for the adults. Its for the entire family. Those under the age of 21 are always welcome
with their family and will be served in the lounge. Our lodge encourages and promotes family time. The pic-
tures below are just a few of the families that enjoyed steak night in January. Please review the menu and
make your plans to attend with your entire family any night of the week food is provided.
Also, once the pool opens, watch the schedule and be sure to attend our Family Swim Nights on Friday
nights.
