Principal Notes! Times flies when you are having fun, and we are already nearly two weeks through term 4, it’s very
hard to believe.
Safety of our children is of utmost importance to our school community.
It has been observed that a number of families are entering the school car
parks (the staff and Hive car park) at the busiest times of the day. This
places all our families and particularly our children at risk. We have two
families that can enter the car park under the fundraising event of the Car
Park auction. No other families are to enter the car park between the
times of 8.45am and 9am, also 3.20pm and 3.45pm. These are the
busiest traffic times and children coming to or leaving school are placed at
great risk if cars continue to be entering and exiting the car park areas at these times. We ask that
you consider the safety of all in our community and do not use these car parks at the mentioned
peak periods.
This week we had students attend Hoop time. As always the students set personal
and team goals and tried their best, well done to all the students. We wish to thank
the parents for transporting the students to the event.
We also have a number of students participating in the Regional Athletics this week
and we wish them all the best and can’t wait to hear about their experience.
With only 5 weeks to go, the Fete preparations are in full swing. We are
currently requesting items for class hampers (to be taken to the
classroom) and donations of blocks of chocolate and bottles of soft
drink. Please support our class stalls by grabbing an item when you are
next shopping.
Hearing from the students, celebrating their achievements is what learning is
all about. Last week we heard from a number of students across the school
who have set goals to achieve this term. Today we hear from some of our year
6 students who have set goals, aimed high, confronted the challenge and hit the
target in achieving their goals with metaphors and similes.
I see different to everyone else.
They see a tree, I see a castle as tall as the Eiffel Tower.
They see a big cardboard box, I see a Viking boat sailing across the icy sea.
They see a stick, I see a sword as bright as the burning sun.
I may see differently, but I'm still human - just an odd one!
Kaelin.
I am sure you’ll agree this is fabulous work. Well done everyone!
Have a wonderful weekend and keep smiling!

I’m as fast as a cheetah, when I am on
the running track.
I’m a dazzling runner!
I’m as tired as a sloth, when I’m in bed.
I’m as annoying as a cockatoo, when
I’m in school.
This is me. I am Curtis!
I sit transfixed like a rock.
My thumbs move like the wind with the joysticks.
My mind races like a computer calculating,
I am one with the controller.
My eyes are glued to the screen.
I feel like I am indestructible.
That is me. I am Nick!
I'm as funny as a clown, sometimes.
I ride my motorbike as fast as a cheetah,
when I'm on my uncle's property.
I ride my scooter like a wild thunderstorm.
When I'm camping, I get smelly as a
skunk.
This is me, Henry.
I grip onto the ball like an ape,
Scaring my opponents.
I am like a cheetah,
Running past my enemies.
I am a tiger in defence,
Stalking my prey, the ball.
I jump as high as a monkey,
Slamming the ball into the net.
Basketball is my personal jungle.
By Chris
I speed down the basketball court like a cheetah.
My enemies are sloths.
It’s me versus the ring.
But then someone as quick as lightning comes up
behind me.
I am panicked, like a kid at their first job interview.
This is me on the basketball court.
By Charlotte
I play my saxophone like a songbird in the mornings.
When I dance my feet take control, like a puppet on strings.
I'm fierce as a charging rhino in the dojo.
When I wave my paint brush I produce art that is colourful as a peacock's tail.
My life's a jungle and I am David.
As fast as an ostrich, when I’m on the running track.
As strong as a kangaroo, when I’m doing cardio.
A brain that is a well-oiled machine in the classroom.
My limbs are plasticine when I’m dancing.
This is me, Elena.

HAVE YOU
HEARD THE
We have been busy in the Hive this week. Chatterboxes have been a very
popular activity amongst the children and each day we have a number of
them being made and tested out. Some of them have been used to answer
questions, others to give out compliments. Some of the children are now
trying to make them as small as possible which is truly testing our fine
motor skills!
In the mornings the children have been enjoying playing a group game
called ‘21’ which has been testing our thinking skills before school.
We started a new menu this term that includes some new additions such
as salad wraps, fruit smoothies and Veggie Stir Fry. The children are
enjoying trying a range of new foods!
