Preface

SBC2410-III V2.0 is a highly-integrated industrial control single-board computer. CPU It employs Samsung’s S3C2410AL-20 controller (ARM920T ARM® Thumb® Processor,

16-KByte Data Cache, 16-KByte Instruction Cache). It provides multiple storage modes, e.g. 64MB SDRAM, NANDFLASH, SD card (a card storage device) interface. USB interface provides multiple communication interface modes, 10/100M Ethernet, 2.5 inch IDE hard disk, Audio,3-channel serial port, 1-channel USB Host, 1-channel USB Device. Besides, it provides Real time clock, watchdog, 2-channel ADC and LCD display.

Chapter 1 Overview

This document mainly describes hardware circuit interfaces of SBC2410-III V2.0 and their characteristics, and describes how to use each hardware interface in details.

1.1 Photo of the product

1.3 Characteristics

64MB SDRAM at 100MHz 64~256MB NandFlash (optional configurations: 64MB, 128MB, 256MB; standard configurations:

64MB) 1 SD/MMC card socket 1-channel USB 1.1 Full Speed host ports(12Mb/s max) 1-channel USB 1.1 Full Speed Device Port(12Mb/s max) LCD display, supports various monochrome/ false color/ true color LCD screen. 2.2 Description of CPU

This manual describes Samsung’s S3C2410A 16/32-bit RISC microprocessor. This product is designed to provide Hand-held devices and general applications with cost-effective, low-power, and high-performance micro-controller solution in small die size. To reduce total system cost, the S3C2410A includes the following components separate 16KB Instruction and 16KB Data Cache, MMU to handle virtual memory management, LCD Controller (STN & TFT), NAND Flash Boot Loader, System Manager (chip select logic and SDRAM Controller), 3-ch UART, 4-ch DMA, 4-ch Timers with PWM, I/O Ports, RTC, 8-ch 10-bit ADC and Touch Screen Interface, IIC-BUS Interface, IIS-BUS Interface, USB Host, USB Device, SD Host & Multi-Media Card Interface, 2-ch SPI and PLL for clock generation.

The S3C2410A was developed using an ARM920T core, 0.18um CMOS standard cells and a memory complier. Its low-power, simple, elegant and fully static design is particularly suitable for cost- and power-sensitive applications. It adopts a new bus architecture called Advanced Microcontroller Bus Architecture (AMBA).

The S3C2410A offers outstanding features with its CPU core, a 16/32-bit ARM920T RISC processor designed by Advanced RISC Machines, Ltd. The ARM920T implements MMU, AMBA BUS, and Harvard cache architecture with separate 16KB instruction and 16KB data caches, each with an 8-word line length.

2.3 Description of SDRAM

SBC2410-III V2.0 single board computer uses 2 32Mbytes SDRAMs to make up a 32-bit 64Mbytes memory system. It is connected to chip select pin CS6 with bit rate of 100MHz.

SDRAM’s address is: 0x3000 0000~0x33FF FFFF, it is visited through 32bit interface.

2.4 Description of FLASH

SBC2410-III V2.0 single board computer uses one type of FLASH: NandFlash. NandFlash employs 8-bit interface for special purpose of NandFlash, and supports 64MByte,

128MByte, 256Mbyte capacity. The standard configuration is 64MByte, user can configure flash of other size on demand.

2.5 Power supply interface (power_in)

Power_in is mainly used to provide power supply to SBC2410-III V2.0 single board computer. SBC2410-III V2.0 power supply uses standard 12VDC, with power of 1.25A. Static consumption current: 220mA@12V(CPU,SDRAM,FLASH) Dynamic consumption current: >220mA@12V(ETH_NET,USB,SD/MMC) See Table 2-2 for details of interface signal definitions.

2.6 Serial port 0 (COM0、RS232COM0、TTLCOM0)

COM0 is 3-line standard serial interface. It output RS232 electric that can communicate with the PC COM interface directly.

RS232COM0 is 3-line serial interface. See Table 2-3 for details of interface signal definitions of RS232COM0.

2.7 Serial port 1 (COM1、RS232COM1、TTLCOM1)

COM1 is 3-line standard serial interface. It output RS232 electric that can communicate with the PC COM interface directly.

RS232COM1 is 3-line serial interface. See Table 2-5 for details of interface signal definitions of RS232COM1.

2.8 serial port2 (TTLCOM2)

TTLCOM2 is a 3-line universal serial interface. It output TTL electric. See Table 2-7 for details of interface signal definitions of TTLCOM2.

2.9 Description of network interface (RJ45)

RJ45 is 10/100M network standard interface. It supports IEEE 802.3 standard protocol. Net cable interface is standard RJ45, with connection indicator and transmission indicator.

SBC2410-III V2.0 single board computer can connect RJ45 to network hub through net cable, or directly connected to PC using crossover net cable.

2.10 USB Host interface (J2)

J2 port is a standard USB Host interface, which is directly connected to USB Host port on CPU (S3C2410AL-20). It can communicate with USB devices such as U disk.

2.11 USB Device interface (J1)

J1 port is USB device interface, which is directly connected to PC. See Table 2-8 for details of interface signal definitions.

2.12 ADC interface (AIN)

AIN interface provides two channels of ADC input. Both ADCs are providing 10bits resolution. It has the following characteristics:

Voltage input range: 0~3V3 (built-in reference circuit ) Sampling bit rate: up to 500kSPS

2.13 JTAG interface (JTAG)

J6 is JTAG debug interface. It is the common 20-pin JTAG interface. See Table 2-10 for details of interface signal definitions of JTAG interface.

2.14 Description of SD card interface (SD)

S3C2410AL-20 provides a 4-line SD card interface, with self testing design. It uses SMC interface that S3C2410AL-20 chip leads out and own controller.

SD card interface supports MMC protocol V3.11 and SDIO protocol V1.1 and SD Memory Card protocol V1.0.

2.15Description of selecting booting mode (LCDVDD)

LCDVDD select the LCD power supply. See Table 2-11 for using of LCDVDD interface Table 2-11 LCDVDD definitions

PHONE is a standard audio output interface. It can provide stereo sound. AUDIO_OUT is an audio output interface. It also can provide stereo sound. See Table 2-12 for

details of interface signal definitions of AUDIO_OUT interface.
