Be encouraged to have high aspirations and appropriate support in preparing for the next phase of education, or employment with training.

Implementation:-

The leadership of CEIAG (including key policies/plans) falls within the remit of members of the SLT. Relevant staff must understand the aims and objectives of young people’s personal development activities and have been involved in their design. There must be coherent links between curriculum areas, for example PHSC, Citizenship and WRL activities and the wider curriculum and these links are understood by staff.

The delivery of CEIAG must be impartial, accurate and current. It is differentiated and personalised to ensure progression through activities that are appropriate to students’ stages of career learning, planning and development. It should include LMI, FE/HE and community and voluntary opportunities. CEIAG services should take account of diversity and equality of opportunity issues and seek to challenge and raise aspirations. The programme must have clear learning outcomes that are understood by young people from the outset. Monitoring and evaluation processes should sample the views of staff; parents/carers; Personal Advisers; and young people, and inform the CEIAG provided.

The CE programme includes:-

KS3 focus on personal finance, citizenship, strengths and abilities. A developing self-awareness beginning to draw a link to a preferred vocational area in the world of work.

KS4 focus on business and enterprise, finance and decision making. Application to FE and routes into HE. CV writing, personal statements and interview presentation and techniques.

Work Experience Placements

Work Experience placements may be offered to pupils of SLS under the following arrangements:-

Young people arrive at SLS with an approved placement established. Vocational courses based in FE or training providers require a related placement

with an employer. Young people have a career focus and agree an extended work placement to

enhance the learning journey.

In line with DfE guidance and legislation all work placements following a robust risk assessment process and adhere to appropriate health and safety guidance by the following:-

Discussion are held with pupils and parents re a proposed work placement. Consideration is given to career aspirations and the relevance pf the chosen area. Pupils and parent/carers are encouraged to support sourcing a suitable employer. Pupils complete an application form for placement sent to our risk assessor

organisation – Alternative Curriculum Service – ACS.

the college placement systems are implemented.

Working With Partners

There are agreed systems for assessment, referral and information sharing that are being used to ensure that young people receive appropriate support. Systems are in place for partners to work collaboratively to re-engage young people to prevent long term disengagement. CEIAG services are personalised to meet the needs of individual young people. We work collaboratively with Connexions, FE Colleges and Training Providers.Independent advice and guidance is commissioned from the LA Connexions Service, tel 0161 253 7062, Personal Adviser M. Information & Communication

Young people are informed of and have access to current and relevant information and resources in a format suitable to their needs and requirements. This is organised in a way that is easy to identify and locate. Young people are made aware of the careers information resources at appropriate times, and are reminded of their availability and how to access them. Information resources are regularly audited, including obtaining feedback from users. There is an appropriate budget to enable resources to be updated and replenished each year

Young People

Young people are involved in individual reviews at key times which consider their: achievements; personal qualities; skills and interests; and continuing development needs. Young people have clear, reasoned goals and can recognise barriers to achieving them. Young people are encouraged to take responsibility for managing their own personal and career development.

Parents & Carers

Parents and Carers are made aware of the support from the organisation regarding CEIAG services. Parents and Carers receive information in a variety of formats, reflecting their needs and including information about pathways and progression routes for their son/daughter.Parents and Carers are encouraged and supported to help their child:
