Global Health Research - Strategy

• Broaden the research base for scientific endeavour in under-resourced environments

- for example, major research capacity strengthening initiatives in Africa and India

• Support areas of science that have potential for increasing health benefits for people and livestock

Key Aims of Workshop

• To establish links with and between public engagement practitioners • To establish a network involving:

• External relations, communications & engagement staff at the Wellcome Trust’s major overseas programmes• Holders of International Engagement Awards• UK-based grantholders with an interest in global health• Other key stakeholders

• Develop a shared understanding of the scope of the practice•Identify key issues and needs of the group
