The Media Entertainments and Arts Alliance (MEAA) is a professional union for people in the industry of entertainment within Australia.

They offer training and professional development to people who are a part of the union.

They deal with OHS claims, Unfair Dismissal, and Workers Compensation.

There prices of membership are based on your current income bracket.

TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES CURRENTLY AVAILABLEIn Perth there is a large amount of

training opportunities for anybody in the Media Industry, There are offered by various University's and Tafe’s in Perth.

Currently there is a training course in Northbridge offered by Central Tafe called “Events-Introduction to Technical Productions” which looks into setup of Audio-Visual equipment in a Event. This is a 1 day course costing $950pp.

There is also another Training course in Northbridge offered by Central Tafe called “Managing Risk” which looks into Risk Management in the Workplace. This is a 2 day course costing $400.

When filming, we must follow a code of ethics, this allows us to be fair and unbiased towards all who may watch our films. The shortest version of it available is:

ALCOHOL AND DRUGS IN THE WORKPLACEIn the work environment is crucial that you keep a calm mind,

and not be under the influence of any drugs or alcohol, as this is not only a liability to you, but also your fellow work employees.

No alcohol is to be consumed while in the working environment and while in working hours without express permission from you production company and the venue owner.

If you are called into work and you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs (Both Legal and Illegal) its your job to inform you boss, and if you do not, you will be liable to a written warning, a formal inquiry, and in extreme cases, termination from employment with the production company.

FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES

There are lots of funding opportunity's available for industry workers, and since the release of crowdfunding platforms such as Kickstarter, Go Fund Me, and Indigogo, we are able to get people funding both from company's and from regular people.

One option is The FTI, they offer grants and funding for people to start filming there small time movies now. One of the most well known is “Raw Nerve”, funding small filmmakers for a max of $4000, any genre, but must be 5-7 minutes long.

Another option is croudfunding via websites such as Kickstarter and Indigogo. They allow for people to start making money for there films now from regular people.
