Message from Father Pergjini:

My announcement of last Sunday, that I will be leaving the parish next month, caused pain to many of our faithful people. I saw many teary eyes that made me feel their pain and my pain. This Friday, January 24th, as a parish we will be going to join thousands of people for March for Life. Since 1992, I have been going every single year. I have beautiful memories marching for hours with students and many faithful parishioners who sacrificed to come to the March for life. This time as I am preparing myself for the long trip, and the pain leaving all of you, I still find the time to write a few words regarding the importance of life from conception to natural death. During the fall season, I got a very touching email from one of our faithful parishioners. In 1986, when she was expecting her son, her mother gave as a gift a plaque with a very powerful and beautiful poem. She kept that precious gift to share with others the touching words which are very deep and profound. Finally, she gave the beautiful poem to her daughter who was expecting a baby. I read and reread that powerful poem.

Baby’s Coming The months pass so very quickly for one who is warm and seemingly, safely, floating in a womb of love. Please play me soft music, talk and touch my movements tenderly and show each other much love. For believe it or not, I can feel these sensations through my small body. I am speaking to you with my inner voice for every soul holds one of these within the depths of its spirit. I am already a soul, a person in my own right though slightly unfamiliar with your world. From whence I come, things are slightly different, for there is not the bodily movements for one to become accustomed. Always take into your body proper nourishment, exercise well, protect me from pollutants and think thoughts of the highest, for my day to day growth depends upon none less than these. As I stretch, kick, hiccup or even suck my thumb, I am becoming anxious to join you in your world and sometimes trying very hard to get your attention. I will do this a lot after I arrive and I am preparing you for the great amount of care I will need till I find my footing and my outer speaking voice. And most of all, welcome me gently, for I will be quite startled for a time with the lights, shadows, and sounds of your earth. I am even looking forward to the challenge and pressures of birth, for I know you will be working with me and it will bring me face to face with those who have loved me spiritually, not even knowing my physical self. Would you believe, my nourishment is al-ready being prepared at my Mother’s breast? Isn’t life remarkable? The very best part of your love for me, now, is the coming day when I might show you my love in return. It is not so very far away, for you are already teaching me love I can feel it, I am a miracle, I am Happy….I am your child. 1982 Carol Filchett

After reading one can find peace and joy trying to enter into the world of a innocent human creature who is conceived in the mother's womb moving within it and growing day after day. It is a monologue. The baby in the womb tenderly speaks to the dear mother, and she is listening and rejoicing that soon the one who is to come into the world will embrace her with love, and she will take care of him/her with greater love. As I reflect upon the beauty of this poem, my mind cannot limit itself only on the touching words of this poem. The tragic reality of abortion brings pain and sadness. Many mothers to be, as matter of fact they are already mothers since they are carrying a baby in their womb, come to a cruel decision to end the life of an innocent human being. The movement of the baby within the womb always speaks a spiritual and silent message in the heart, mind, and soul of the mother and father. Unfortunately, many of them do not listen that voice but they listen to the evil voice to commit a murder by talking an innocent human life. May all of us who are aware of our sacredness of life promote and defend the human life from the conception to natural death. Thank you dear faithful parishioner for sharing with us your beautiful gift received from your dear mother, now sharing with your dear daughter and sharing with us too. May the one who speaks within the womb of a mother touch the hearts, minds, and souls of those who do plan to end an innocent human life. Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us! Amen!
