Our Lady of Guadalupe
When Mary appeared to Juan Diego as Our Lady of Guada-lupe, she had encouraging words for him. "Am I not here, I who am your mother?" In the image on Juan Diego's tilma (tunic), Mary identifies herself with the Aztec people. She has their hair and fea-
tures, their symbolic maternity dress. She in-corporated their important symbols of the sun, moon, and stars. Today's Mass includes two Gospel options. Both are familiar passages from the Gospel of Luke - the Annunciation and the Visitation. Both are equally relevant to today's feast be-cause Mary's yes to Christ isn't only to care for him but to come to us. Our Lady of Guadalupe is pregnant. The image bears witness to Mary's yes to conceive the Savior of the World. But even in her pregnancy, she goes to care for Elizabeth. Now Mother to all the world, Mary comes to the aid of her children, reminding them of her presence among them.
Retirement account steps to end the year:
If you are 70 ½ and subject to the RMD, and you plan to make a qualified charita-ble contributions in 2018, then you should have your IRA custodian make a direct transfer of funds from your IRA to a qualified charity prior to Dec. 31, 2018.
Any contribution up to $100,000 will result in a tax saving to you because the contribution will count as part or all of the RMD. For example, if your marginal tax bracket is 28 percent, if you contribute $1,000 directly to a charity from your IRA, your taxes will be re-duced by $280.
This alternative produces tax savings to you only if you don’t itemize.
AWAITING THE SALVATION OF GOD The world does not seem big enough to contain the jubilation of the first reading. In the Gospel reading, the Roman empire isn t big enough, either. The great powers of Rome are named and made to stand waiting for the arrival of God s salvation. And we find Paul meditating joyfully on what really matters. According to Baruch, the city of Jerusalem is like a person standing on tiptoe looking for God s salvation, which is coming from the east. Those who were led away on foot, heads down, now come back, a proud people. Why, the very way is smoothed out. The path is lined with fragrant, lush trees. It can't get any better than this, can it? Well, yes, it can. For a voice calls out in the desert. Here is the beginning of the salva-tion of God. Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co.

Be a Good Steward of the Advent and Christmas Seasons
December is such a busy time of year, and a month that tempts us to lose sight of the profound spiritual importance of the Advent and Christmas seasons. The best way to stay focused on the coming of Jesus Christ is to be good stewards of his presence in our daily lives. Here are simple ways to exercise good stewardship of this sacred time of year.
Give God a very special gift this year: Let this gift be some-thing personal that no one else needs to know about, and let it be a sacrifice. Perhaps your gift will be to commit to spending more time with God daily. Perhaps there is a habit you know you should give up. Why wait for a New Year’s resolution? Start now. Celebrate the season of Advent: Light the Advent wreath can-dles each night before dinner. If you have children, let them offer their own prayers to the Christ child for whom we are waiting. Set aside a special time to read the Christmas story in the Gospel of Saint Luke 1:5-56 through 2:1-20: Consider reading this account with your family and discussing it together. Attend Christmas Mass together with your family: If you are alone this Christmas or don’t have family living near you, invite a friend or a neighbor to join you.
Congratulations
To all those Celebrating A Wedding Anniversary this Month
We pray for all married couples, for their faithfulness to each other and for their renewed commitment to the loving covenant they pledge to each other through the Sacrament of Marriage.
“Stand Firm in the faith, be courageous, be strong." l Cor. 16:13

Every year, the Parish collects and distributes Christmas Gifts for the less fortunate children and the Migrant children. This year, the Parish will be collecting Christmas gifts the weekend of: December 15th and December 16th
The Christmas gifts should be NEW gifts only.
Each tag on the tree is a two-part tag. When you take a tag off the tree, please complete one part of the tag with your personal information and place that tag in the basket located on the tables by the Christmas Trees in the back of the church.
The DEADLINE to return the Christmas Gifts will be on December 16th .
As you arrive to Mass, "Papa Noel" volunteers will be at the entrance of the church collecting the gifts.
When wrapping the Christmas Gifts, please be sure to wrap the gifts and securely tape the Christmas Gift Tag with the child's information on the package. If you decide to use gift bags, please be sure to secure the bag by taping or stapling the bag closed. This will ensure the gift will remain in the bag. Again, please be sure to securely tape the Christmas Gift Tag with the child's in-formation to the gift bag.
The "Papa Noel" Ministry would like to "Thank you" for your kindness and generosity!

Bless the Baby Jesus December 15 & 16, 2018 The tradition of the Christmas Nativity scene began with St. Francis of Assisi in 1223. Francis realized how the Incarnation of Jesus revealed God’s love for us in a very special
way. To make that love more visible to the people of his time, Francis created a manger scene in the town of Greccio, in Italy, using live people and animals. The local people were so moved by this depiction that it quickly became an annual tradition. Soon, this beautiful practice became popular in other nations around the world. Today, the Nativity scene has a prominent place in so many Christian homes. Placing your Baby Jesus fig-ure in a nativity crèche in your home can help the whole family reflect, throughout the Advent and Christmas seasons, on Christ’s wonderful birth in Bethlehem.
Don’t forget to bring your Baby Jesus figures to Mass
next weekend!
