Impact:– A sheen developed ivo of the
vessel for 5 days– OSLTF opened– Safety concerns for dive ops
Barge ST. ELIASIncident:
– Barge aground on Belle Rock– Barge refloated due to incoming
tide– 10ft x 10ft hole found, but little
impact to vessel stability
Impact:– Max fuel capacity is 20,000
gallons, but verified no fuel onboard
– 37K lbs of high explosives onboard
– Possible multi-day event if vessel didn’t refloat
M/V JUSTINIncident:
– Vessel sank alongside a crane barge
– Vessel punctured the barge, divers plugged the whole
– Large crane barge brought in to raise the vessel
Impact:– 300 gallons discharged– Skimming and diving
operations conducted– Difficult salvage conditions– Highly visible area, large
media interest
