THE SEA STARES AT US FROM AFAR followsa group of men living outside of main-stream society in makeshift shacks ona beach in Southern Spain.
The legend of an ancient and forgotten
civilization lies buried under a large ex-
panse of dunes. For more than a cen-
tury, travelers have come to this remote
and desolate territory looking for the
traces of ancient inhabitants, the ruins
of a city, or perhaps a sort of lost uto-
pia. Ignorant of these myths and the ro-
mantic delusions of archaeologists and
adventurers, a few men, barely visible
among the sands, live in solitude in this
place that faces the sea.

Two Dutch directors and two Dutch producers have been selected for Berlinale Ta-
lents, the annual summit and networking platform of the Berlin International Film Fes-
tival for 250 outstanding creatives from the fields of film and drama series. The
directors are Daan Bol, whose short film ROCKNROLLERS won the Best Children’s Doc
award at IDFA 2016, and Kaweh Modiri who directed BODKIN RAS (2016) which picked
up the Fipresci prizes at IFFR and Viennale. Producers are Erik Glijnis, who started
working for the prolific Lemming Film in August 2016, and Aydin Dehzad of Kaliber
Film, whose MNK BOY has also been selected for the Talent Project Market, a colla-
boration with the Berlinale Co-Production Market.
