The Agricultural Research Council (ARC) is a premier science instuon that conducts research with partners, develops human capital and foster innovaon in support of the agricultural sector. It provides diagnosc, laboratory, analycal, agricultural engineering services, post-harvest technology development, agrochemical evaluaon, consultaon and advisory services, food processing technology services as well as various surveys and training intervenons. Through its wider network of research instutes and experimental farms, the ARC provides a strong scienfic base and a broad- ly distributed technology transfer capacity to the enre agricultural industry in South Africa. _________________________________________________________________________ The ARC-Grain Crops (ARC-GC) seeks to appoint a highly, experienced and dynamic person to the following posion at Potchefstroom: Senior Research Technician: Crop Protecon Key Performance Areas: Together with Project Manager, co-ordinates and contributes towards projects, by compiling and execung technical project acvity plans for field trials; Idenfies the need for human resources in project (s) (where applicable with the Chief Technician and/or Project Manager) and manages the allocated resources; Assists with compiling and managing project budgets and purchases; Plans and co-ordinates own and technical project work acvies; Manages project facilies, material and equipment. Ensures opmal ulisaon of resources; Independently conducts specialist research/technical support, diagnoscs, and other services within a project; Collects, captures, processes and interprets technical data and makes internal project recommendaons; Compiles detailed technical reports and submits for approval (where applicable);

Senior Research Technician: Crop Protection

Key Performance Areas:

Together with Project Manager, co-ordinates and contributes towards projects, by compiling

Manages and ensures compliance to quality standards;

Optimises equipment and/or processes and/or systems;

Renders diagnostic, technical and other services at a national level;

Ensures compliance with SHE/OHS policies and procedures.

Job Requirements:

M.Tech. Degree (or equivalent NQF7) plus 2 years applicable experience;

B degree, B Hons degree, B.Tech, or National Higher Diploma (or equivalent NQF6) plus 6 years

applicable experience;

Registration with relevant scientific registration body, if applicable;

Must have completed both the ISTA seed testing certificate and the AVCASA course for the use

of Agro-chemicals;

Valid driver’s license.

A competitive remuneration package will be congruent with the scope, responsibilities and the
