Saturday, September 14
9:00 a.m. Pre-Game Bar-B-QuePut on your Black and Gold and meet up at the chapter house. Be ready for good food and an introduction to Ralphie, the nation’s #1 college mascot.
11:30 a.m. Group PhotoPlease gather in front of the chapter house for a brothers only photo opportunity.
12:45 p.m. Leave for Folsom FieldSee our #18 Colorado Buffaloes in their nationallytelevised match-up with the #17 USC Trojans. It’s sure to be a terrific game!
4:30 p.m. Post-Game Meal(approximate) After the Buff’s make short work of the Trojans,
meet back at the house for our final event. Have a bite to eat and say your good-byes while the traffic thins out.
6:30 p.m. The EndIt’s been a great weekend! Take home your goody bag and lots of memories, but don’t be a stranger. The Gamma Kappa Foundation and the Houseboard Corporation want you to be involved. Speakers Biographies
Dr. Philip DiStefano Provost, University of Colorado at Boulder
Philip DiStefano is Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs atthe University of Colorado at Boulder. He has also served the University asAssociate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, and was Dean of the School ofEducation for ten years. He has been a Professor of Curriculum and Instruction inthe School of Education since 1974, and holds a Doctorate in Humanities Educationfrom Ohio State University, and a Master’s degree in English for SecondaryEducation from West Virginia University. Dr. DiStefano lives in Boulder with hiswife Yvonne, and has three children.
C. David Nyman Regent, Sigma Nu Fraternity
Dave Nyman is Regent of the High Council, Sigma Nu’s board of directors.Brother Nyman graduated from Southern Utah University (Lambda Iota Chapter)where he was the proud recipient of activation pin #30. Currently, Dave is Directorof Summer and Evening School for Southern Utah University. In addition, he’s aprofessor of music and chairman of board for Cedar City Music Arts.
Michael Hecht President, Gamma Kappa Houseboard Corporation
Since 1983, Michael Hecht has been the president of the Gamma Kappa house-board corporation. Mike is a Certified Financial Planner and First Vice Presidentin the Boulder office of Merrill Lynch. A 1975 initiate of Sigma Nu (GK#1210),he has BA, BS and MA degrees from the University of Colorado. While at CU,Mike held the offices of Rush Chairman, Social Chairman, Alumni Chairmanand Eminent Commander. He’s an active member, and past president, of theBoulder Buff Club. Michael lives in the foothills north of Boulder with his wifeTerri and 11-year old daughter, Gabriella.
Alex Garcia Eminent Commander, Gamma Kappa Chapter
A native of San Diego, Alex Garcia is a Junior in the College of Business, majoringin accounting. Drawn to Boulder by CU’s academic reputation and Colorado’sunbeatable snow, he pledged Sigma Nu (GK#1818) because of Gamma Kappa’scommitment to lasting brotherhood. With graduation scheduled for May, 2004,Alex plans to continue his education by attending law school.

The Gamma Kappa Sigma Nu Fraternity Foundation
The Sigma Nu Gamma Kappa Foundation was formed to receive and admin-ister alumni gift support to maintain the physical condition of the Chapter
properties. The objective of the Foundation is to insure that the historicalstructures at 11th and Pleasant Streets remain structurally sound and economicallyviable for generations to come.
One hundred percent of all contributions to the Gamma Kappa Sigma NuFraternity Foundation go directly to the immediate reduction and ultimateelimination of the current outstanding mortgage balance. Due to the acquisi-tion of the “far-west annex” (1015 Pleasant St.) several years ago, as well asannual renovations, ongoing maintenance and necessary upgrades to the entireGamma Kappa chapter property, a current outstanding mortgage balance of$550,000 exists as of 08/31/02. The goal of the foundation is to reduce the out-standing mortgage debt, by 20% over each of the next five years. This goal dictatesannual payments of $110,000 for the next 5 years, by the Foundation.
We need your help! The existing main chapter house (1043 Pleasant St.) isnearly 80 years old. Unfortunately, at some point in the future, the Gamma Kappahouseboard corporation may face a decision regarding the possible replacement ofthe original chapter house. If that decision becomes necessary, it would be optimalfor the future of the Gamma Kappa chapter to have eliminated all current outstand-ing mortgage balances and to have taken significant steps to set aside funds for acapital campaign. With your help, we can achieve this goal. Please review and giveyour serious consideration to the suggested giving levels for The Gamma KappaSigma Nu Fraternity Foundation:
